FRQ Exam Preparation – Standards of Acceptance
I only accept FRQ Sets that follow these very specific instructions. I do not make exceptions. You may not
take an FRQ Exam without first turning in the FRQ Set.
1. Carefully read each question and determine its point value.
2. Answer each part of the question on the “official” FRQ answer sheet. I only accept FRQ Sets on the
“official” answer sheets.
3. Title it FRQ Set -- Unit 6. For each question include the year and question #.
4. Make certain you include your name, period and date.
5. Do not answer more than one FRQ on a page (one side of answer sheet). You may write on both
sides of the paper. Therefore, you could answer one question on one side and another question on
the other side. Just don’t answer two questions on the same side.
6. Write in blue or black ink.
7. Be sure to label each part of the FRQ.
8. After you answer a question, score it with the AP Government rubric.
9. Correct your answer in a different color of ink (including red) on the same page.
10. Then, read the student samples for each FRQ. Predict how many points the student was awarded.
Take time to determine why the College Board denied point(s) for certain parts of the answer.
11. Staple the FRQ answer sheets for the set before you arrive in class.
FRQ Exam Day Procedure
 As you enter the classroom, place your Unit 4 FRQ Set in the top tray. Make sure it is properly
labeled.
 Pick up the FRQ answer sheet from the table by the door. Take out a pen with blue or black ink. No
other items should be placed on your desk.
 Be quietly seated with your exam, FRQ answer sheet, and pen.
 I will roll a die to determine which question your class will answer. If I roll a “6”, you may select
which question to answer.
