All students need 75 SSL hours in order to graduate
Criteria for SSL hours
 Pre-approved, nonprofit, tax exempt organization
 Service addresses a real need in the community
SSL opportunities are posted on www.mcpsssl.org
 Click on the link “Pre-approved SSL Opportunities”
All summer SSL must be completed with pre-approved
organizations OR pre-approval form 60-50 must be submitted
and signed PRIOR to start of service.
NCAA CLEARINGHOUSE
INITIAL-ELIGIBILIT Y CLEARINGHOUSE
 The clearinghouse certifies whether a prospective student
athlete is eligible academically to practice, compete, and
receive athletically related financial aid at an NCAA Division I
or II college/university in the student athlete’s freshman year.
 Students must register with NCAA and meet with their
counselor to determine if their courses are accepted by NCAA.
 NCAA uses a GPA of 16 core courses (Division I), high school
graduation and a recorded score from an ACT or SAT using a
sliding scale.
