Frequently Asked Questions
How are ACCUPLACER Scores used?
The ACCUPLACER placement test is a College Board product. The test is used to determine the college readiness of
students or whether or not students are ready for college level courses. Many of the 2 year and 4 year post secondary
institutions across the country use this test as their placement test. Leaders from community colleges within the state of
Maryland determine the appropriate ACCUPLACER scores to assess college readiness in the area of English and Math.
May I still attend MC if my scores are lower than those noted above?
Yes.
What are my next steps to enroll at Montgomery College?
All students who enroll at Montgomery College are required to participate in a Montgomery Advising Program (MAP)
session. Montgomery College counselors will advise you of the type of courses you should enroll in based on your
ACCUPLACER scores, area of interest, and future plans. For more information and to sign up for MAP sessions,
