Apply on-line to the Werner H. Kirsten Student Intern Program at the National Cancer Institute at Frederick, Frederick, Maryland This program is designed to expose high school seniors to research and administrative management in a health care environment. Interns experience the basic methods of biomedical research through hands-on laboratory training or support projects in budget personnel, information technology graphics and media. Eligibility Requirements You must • be in your junior year of high school when applying; • have successfully earned two credits in science and mathematics, all with grades B or higher; • have an overall, unweighted grade point average of 3.0 or higher (based on a 4.0 maximum). If you have a GPA of 2.5-3.0 you may apply, but there is an additional requirement. (refer to the application on-line); • be sixteen years of age or older, and a U.S. citizen or resident alien. There are no waivers to this requirement. Resident aliens must provide a copy of their Permanent Resident Card as part of the application process; • be covered by health insurance. If you are not covered by health insurance, you may not participate in the student intern program.
