Tips for Students and Parents New to Rocky Hill Middle School

 the daily bell schedule;
 the calendar of events;
 available extracurricular activities;
 daily announcements;
 SSL information; and
 staff email addresses.
Media Center Orientation Video: Please view this to learn how to use and take full
advantage of our amazing Media Center. This can be found on the Counseling
Department page of the Rocky Hill Website.
6th Grade Orientation Information: For New 6th Grader Students-- A must see resource which
can be found on the Counseling Department page of the Rocky Hill Website. This includes
all you need to know about adjusting to the 6th grade.
Student Service Learning (SSL): Forms can be turned into a box in the main office. To learn
about SSL opportunities and get copies of forms, visit the SSL Opportunities, which is a link on
the Rocky Hill Website. Students must earn 75 hours of SSL as a high school graduation
requirement.
Edline: Use Edline to keep track of classes, grades, and assignments. Edline is accessible
from our website, and also has a link for online databases that MCPS students can use for
class research. If you need to sign up for an Edline account or your Edline account is not
working correctly, contact our school’s Edline coordinator, Ms. Gramatges. Ms. Gramatges
is our school media specialist and can be reached, via email, at
[email protected].
PARENTS: We encourage you to have YOUR OWN Edline account to enable you to
monitor your child’s assignments and grades in each of their classes, and receive
important emails from teachers. Be sure to include your own email address when
activating your Edline account to allow teachers to respond to you directly.

 Lunch: My Lunch Money is a link on the website. Visit the Parents Resources and look under
MCPS links to prepay for your child’s lunch account. It will also provide you with an itemized list
of what your child is buying.
 Lockers: For help with your locker, please visit Ms. Carr in the main office.
 Homework Help: Students can get academic assistance from the “Homestretch Club” during
the second half of each quarter after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the
3rd floor computer lab, room 359, from 3:05 PM – 4:25 PM.
Students MUST sign up on the bulletin board outside of Ms. Brazil’s office to participate.
 Activity Bus: If you need to stay after school on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays for extra
academic help, to attend a club, or to participate in a sport, you can ride the activity bus.
Each student MUST have an after school bus pass to board the bus. These passes are given out
from their after school teacher or the main office. All buses will depart around 4:20 each day.
PARENTS: When students are staying for an approved after school activity and do
not ride the activity bus, please arrange to have the student picked up by 4:30 PM.
After 4:30 PM, there are limited resources to provide appropriate supervision for the
students.
 Counseling Services: Talk to your counselor or another trusted staff member if you are not
feeling good about yourself, or if you are having problems at home, with friends, or achieving
success in school. You can make an appointment to see your counselor before school, during
lunch, or during the school day with a pass from your teacher.
