Dear Parent/Guardian of a Grade 7 student:
Beginning with the 2014- 2015 school year, new immunization requirements for Maryland
students entering Grade 7 were established. Before your child can enter Grade 7, he/she must
have one tetanus, diphtheria, and acellular pertussis (Tdap) vaccination and one meningococcal
vaccination (MCV4).
These new requirements are in addition to previous school years' immunization requirements.
Please contact your child's health care provider to determine whether or not your child has
already received these immunization vaccinations, and if not, plan to have them administered as
soon as possible.
Request documentation that your child has received the additional required immunizations from
your health care provider and submit a copy of the documentation to your child's school health
room as soon as possible, but no later than Monday, August 31, 2015, the first day of the 20152016 school year.
According to Maryland School Immunization Regulations, COMAR 10.06.04, parents must
submit documentation of required age appropriate immunizations before their child attends
school.
There is a free vaccine clinic that will be held at the Montgomery County Public Schools Backto-School Fair, 850 Hungerford Drive, Rockville, Maryland, on Saturday, August 29, 2015, from
11:00 a.m.- 2:00p.m for those students still in need of these vaccinations. Vaccines will be
available by appointment only.
