PTSA President, Nancy Downing, welcome, call to order, declaration of quorum and introductions.

Collecting dues and expenses with staff lunch for September
Principal’s Report - Damon Monteleone

Will update on school performance after the first marking period.
●
Homecoming was successful: despite the bad weather there was a spirited crowd, week was active and
students participated in spirit events at school.
●
Open house: 209 parents increase from year before
●
Nov 11th - We will have a new event 9th grade report card night 7-8:30p - get your report card early.
●
Nov 12th - Rockville Historical Society are bringing in a speaker(historian) wrote a history of Public
school in Montgomery County, and will talk about RMHS (oldest high school in the county est. in 1892)
Book drive - children’s book Pre-K to High School - students are collecting books for a school in Kenya.

Traffic on Fleet Street. Met with officer and communicated with Rockville Transportation to put traffic
delineators on Fleet street to prevent dangerous illegal U-turns
●
Friday is Hall of Fame game: Ruby Gott Tyler was 105 years old. She graduated 1929 from RMHS. In
1927 submitted the name “Rocket” for the yearbook. Cheerleaders will wear black and gold ribbon with
RGT 1929 and 3 of her daughters will attend the game.

Nearly sold out homecoming.
Goal to increase attendance next time.
4 options for semester exam changes - polled student body about what they think and will present to BOE
Book drive - link will come through PTSA; boxes for drive in school - near media center and near main
office. Students will bring to 4th period classes. Students in Kenya who don’t have reading resources.

Grants - Kimbery Agnew-Heard
● Linda, Robert, Rhonda and Priya - 7600 in grants and reviewed tonight.
Old Business - Belinda Tilley
● Bylaws review - need another bylaws volunteer - an hour of your time.
● Update the board and then present to final general membership.
New Business
● Outreach - support the school to close achievement gap - try something in February for Black History
Month. Last week approached by parent to help get things going. Need volunteer for more long term.
Talk with ESOL students to find out their needs. Involve Spanish Honor Society.
● Traffic - update from principal.
● Career Day and Expo - Feb 26th - looking for new speakers in all walks of life - artists, trades people, etc
● College Application Mentor Program - have a parent to volunteer to organize getting parents who already
have one child in college to help other parents.
● International night is December 4th.
