Activities center on the daily production of a live television broadcast. Students will be provided with extensive opportunities to operate all television studio equipment and will perform a variety of roles in support of the Morning Announcements Program. TV Internship Program Requirements: The TV Internship Program will provide students with the insight and experience in the full range of Audio Visual and Television services provided at Wootton High School. Students will be exposed to all aspects of this program: during the course of their internship, interns will become proficient in the use of Wootton's audio-visual and television equipment. In addition, interns will develop the logistical skills necessary to provide services to the Wootton community according to the needs of the person requesting services. Additional Requirements: In support of the provision of TV Internship Program services to the Wootton community, interns should anticipate that they will be asked to help maintain equipment, videotape special classroom activities and speakers, activities of clubs, and extracurricular activities of special interest to the Wootton community such as Homecoming Game, school plays, Puttin' On the Hitz, etc. Students will also be expected to provide classroom support to teachers with equipment during classes (as requested). Interns will assist with maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment, including cleaning of equipment and replacing cords or bulbs when required. Interns should be prepared to support all functions of the Media Center as requested by Media Center Staff. Areas of experience: Television Studio: Interns will learn the skills necessary to run equipment in the television studio and remote locations. Students will become proficient in the use of cameras, microphones, switcher, and editing equipment. Additionally, students will be required to accept assignments in the pre-production stage, such as equipment maintenance, script-writing, and contributing materially to the development of projects as members of the production crew. Interns will learn the skills necessary to set up and run the equipment to be used in the auditorium. Interns will be assigned tasks such as set-up and take-down of sound, lighting, video equipment, and multimedia programs (such as Power Point), according to the needs of the requester. Interns are expected to take an active part in the planning for successful programs. TV Interns are assigned long-term video projects and assist with TV Studio operations. TV Interns and TV Production students receive a working knowledge of television, programming, storyboards, scripting, camera operation, editing, multimedia programs and career opportunities. Studio equipment is available for student use upon approval from Mr. Jacobs after training has been verified. Studio resources are available for staff upon consultation with Mr. Jacobs.
