STUDENT STAKEHOLDER FOCUS
What do our students need?
As a result of the root cause analysis process (RCA),
it was determined that our students need to be
engaged in:
Rigorous Instruction
 All students need regular opportunities to listen to,
speak, read, and write using academic language to
demonstrate higher order thinking skills (i.e.
analyze, critique, create, evaluate, make judgments,
solve problems)
A Community of Learners
 All students need to feel part of a community of
learners where everyone is engaged in purposeful
collaboration, treated with dignity, respect, and
held to high expectations while engaged in lessons
that related to students’ lives
Teachers will need professional development on:
 Employing warm demander strategies that address
cultural proficiency, build positive relationships
with students, hold all individuals accountable for
learning, & relate lessons to students’ lives
 Planning for rigor with disciplinary literacy skills,
academic language, & critical thinking challenges
 Developing and implementing structured
collaborative tasks where all individuals are held
accountable
Leaders will need professional development on:
 Effective facilitation/coaching of planning for
student engagement in rigorous instruction and a
community of learners
 Coaching to engage teachers in cultural proficiency
setting measurable objectives, the use of multiple
data sources, and reflective examination of student
learning in order to adjust instructional practices
