Who Is Mrs. Aguiar ?
by Elizabeth Wynne
The following interview is
about Mrs. Aguiar, formerly, Ms.
DeLuca. I asked her a few simple
questions about her interests and
personal life; I hope you find her
responses as fascinating as I did!
JWJ: If you could go anywhere you
wanted for vacation, where would
it be, and why?
Mrs. Aguiar: I would choose Australia because when I was in middle school, I wrote a report about
it, and I found it very fascinating. It
also would be a different environment compared the U.S. However,
I would not want to live there because of all the poisonous animals.
JWJ: What is your favorite type of
food and why do you enjoy it?
Mrs. Aguiar: Italian, because I am
half Italian. My dad and grandma
made THE BEST Italian food ever
also, so I grew up eating it and
loving it.
JWJ: What is your favorite accessory or clothing article?
Mrs. Aguiar: Earrings! I love earrings, and wear them all the time! I
have over 100 pairs.
JWJ: Growing up, who was your
biggest role model/biggest influence?
Mrs. Aguiar: My 2nd grade teacher.
She made teaching FUN for a
change. Also, ever since then, I
wanted to be a teacher.
JWJ: Did your wedding meet your
expectations? How did you feel
walking down the aisle?
Mrs. Aguiar: Yes, it was a gorgeous
day, no rain and 218 people came
out of 260! Walking down the
aisle, the only thing I was feeling
was excitement and hope not to
trip.
JWJ: How many hours a week does
it take you to grade papers?
Mrs. Aguiar: It can range from 820, sometimes higher. It will take
me around 40 hours to grade
essays and end of quarter projects.
JWJ: If you were stuck on an island, what three things would you
bring and who are three people
you would bring?
Mrs. Aguiar: My husband, mom,
dad, the internet, a speed boat
and water.
JWJ: How many kids would you
like and what genders?
Mrs. Aguiar: I would like around 3,
2 boys and 1 girl.
JWJ: Last question, pick one place
to live in the whole world, where
would it be and why?
Mrs. Aguiar: Italy because I love
Italian food, the people are all so
nice, there is so much to do and
see and it is beautiful.

Football
With the football league almost
being halfway completed, you can
start to see what the playoffs will look
like. The Ravens, with their most recent loss to the Bengals, a close and
painful game of 24 to 27, put them in
second place in the AFC north league.
Andy Dalton rushed for 2 touchdowns, and with about one minute
left the Ravens got called for an offensive pass interference call, sealing
the win for the Bengals giving them
the AFC north lead in front of the Ravens. The Redskins aren’t looking too
good right now with RG3 out, but
surprisingly they pulled off a win with
a field goal against the Dallas Cowboys 20-17 in overtime. This gives the
Redskins a win they desperately needed, putting their record at 3-5.
A lot of people play fantasy football, and I think that the three best
quarterbacks to have this week by far
are Peyton Manning, Aaron Rodgers,
and Andrew Luck. You should also try
to get Jamaal Charles or Arian Foster
as running backs, and Demaryius
Thomas and Jordy Nelson as wide
receivers. cont’d. on page 2...
Fast Facts
In 2014, there were over 41 million
people playing fantasy sports in the
USA.

by Rebecca Lacoretz My brother and I fight all
the time, and I wish there was
a way we could get closer and
agree on more. What should I
do to improve our relationship? Anonymous
If you want to bond, you
first need to have a positive
attitude. Don't argue unnecessarily, it won't help anything you're trying to do. You
should try to find things you
both agree on. Ask him about
HIS life. Show him you care
and you want to improve
your relationship. Be understanding and know that it
might take a while for you
have the relationship you
want.
I saw my friend making a
really bad choice and I want
to say something but I don't
know what to say! How can I
let him know I think he's making a bad choice? Anonymous
If you're concerned
about your friend's wellbeing, then you're right to
want to say something. Tell
your friend that you care
about him and you don't like
seeing him make bad choices.
He should know that you only
want the best for him. You
should also talk to a trusted
adult or parent. They can also
help you figure out other
options.
I just started Middle
School and I have way more
homework than I ever expected. How can I balance
schoolwork with my social
life? Anonymous
Balancing schoolwork
and social life is a reoccurring
struggle for Middle School
Students. Here are a few tips
to help you manage this new
hectic life:
1. PLAN, PLAN, PLAN!
Set up times to do everything so you know what you
have to do. Mark your calendars with due dates and social events.
2. Set Boundaries
Spend only a certain
amount of time doing different activities and don't spend
too long on any one thing.
You want to maximize your
time.
3. Stay Focused
If you're doing homework, DO HOMEWORK! Try to
not get distracted. Things will
go by much faster if you stay
on task.
Overall, know the tasks
you want and have to do.
Stay organized and focused
you can do anything you set
your mind on doing.
Soccer
I don’t know too much
about soccer, but I know that
two of the best teams versed
against each other, and if I
know the team’s name, they
must be good. Real Madrid
overcame Barcelona 3-1 on
Saturday. The first goal was
scored early at about four
minutes by Neymar, giving
Barcelona the early lead. Barcelona gets called out for a
hand ball, giving Cristiano
Ronaldo a penalty kick, tying
the game up 1-1. After the
first half, two more goals
were scored by Real Madrid,
giving them the 3-1 victory!
Hockey
For the past couple years,
the Capitals have been decreasing in wins and in skill
but this year will be different
for them for many reasons.
Firstly, they have a new coach
with a different perspective
than the other coaches. Also
they have many new players
resulting in different playing
styles. Right now the Capitals
are 4-2-2 after losing 4 to 2
to the Canucks, putting them
in a three way tie for second
place of the metropolitan
division.
Baseball
The San Francisco Giants
won the World Series for the
third time in five years. Unfortunately, neither the Baltimore Orioles nor the Washington Nationals made it to
the World Series.
DIY
by Allison Link
Here are two DIY’s for the
month of October. These
DIY’s are super easy and do
not take very long at all. Also, they are both perfect for
fall and Halloween. I tried
both projects myself. They
are so unique and will make
your room ready for fall.
The Fall Leaf Line:
To make this leaf line you will
need the following materials:
yarn or some sort of string, fake leafs (can be purchased at a
craft store), pictures of your choice, and a hole puncher. After gathering the materials, follow each of these steps:
1. Cut about an arm’s length of yarn or some sort of string.
2. Take your fake leaves and hole punch each one
3. Next, hole punch different pictures of your choice, whether
it’d be of your family, friends, fashion, or sports.
4. In a line, place your pictures and leaves alternating between
a leaf and a picture. Feed the string through the holepunched leaves and pictures in the order that you have laid
out. Tie a large knot after each leaf or picture.
5. Lastly, tie the ends of the string and hang your fall leaf line
anywhere like around your bedframe.
Painted Pumpkin:
To make the painted pumpkin you will need the following materials: a pumpkin (real or fake) of regular size, paper
towel, paint sealer (optional), paint of your choice, and a
stencil or printed picture of a leaf. After gathering the materials, follow each of these steps:
1. First, clean your pumpkin with a wet paper towel so there is
no excess dirt
2. Spray the pumpkin with paint sealer so after you paint it the
design will stay (optional)
3. Using your stencil or cut out picture of a leaf, place it onto
the pumpkin and paint the color of your choice and repeat
all around the pumpkin.

Pumpkin Pie
Ahhh, Pumpkin Pie. The living
soul of the word Autumn.
Flakey, buttery crust with
silky pumpkin filling, and
topped with fluffy whipped
cream. Makes your mouth
water, doesn’t it? Well, today
you’re going to learn how to
make this sweet Treat. You’ll
need:
Crust
1 1/3 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup vegetable oil
2 tablespoons cold water
Filling
2 eggs
1/2 cup sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ginger
1/8 teaspoon cloves
1 can (15 oz) Pumpkin (not mix)
1 can (12 oz) evaporated milk
Directions: Now it’s time to
start!
Pre-heat oven to 425°F.
In a medium sized bowl, mix
the flour, 1/2 teaspoon of
salt, and the oil until all the
flour is moist. Over time,
sprinkle the cold water until
all of it is absorbed. Make it
into a ball and press in a 9inch glass pie plate.
In larger bowl, beat eggs
slightly with a whisk or beater. With the eggs, beat in 1/2
cup sugar, the cinnamon, 1/2
teaspoon salt, ginger, cloves,
pumpkin and the milk.
So that the filling doesn’t
spill, put the crust on the rack
before filling it. You’ll save
yourself a mess. After you’re
done pouring, bake that for
about 15 minutes.
Reduce the temp to
about 350°, and bake for
about 45 more minutes, or
until when you stick a knife in
it comes out clean.
Now, take that pie out and
cool it!

Caramel Apples
Fall is full of fruits! And caramel. And apples. And caramel
apples! Pretty popular, and
very good. To make this caramel-covered combo, it’s very
easy. All you need is a bowl of
melted caramel, and an apple
with a Popsicle stick stuck in it.
And the icing on the cake; well
the caramel on the apple, is to
dip that apple in the caramel.
Mmmm, delicious!
