BUSES All students who live outside the 1.5 walking mile radius will be
provided bus transportation. This year, immersion students will no
longer be assigned to a specific bus stop. You may pick and choose
their stop, but you need to be consistent with your choices. Bus
transportation is a privilege and students must follow all school and bus
rules while traveling on the bus. The school reserves the right to deny
bus transportation to students who do not comply with the rules.
Unless the school receives a written request from a parent, students
are expected to ride their assigned bus to and from school.
JAGTIME – Students will continue to have a 'Jag Time', a 25-minute
period between the 1st and 2nd block of the day. This period provides
students and teachers with the necessary time to re-teach and
reassess, as needed.
LINKAGES TO LEARNING is a school-based health and human

scheduling concerns, conflict resolution or any child development
issues, please contact the counseling department at 301-562-5240. The
counseling department will work with grade level teams to promote a
positive school climate and academic excellence.
Our school will be participating in the Maryland Meals for Achievement
(MMFA). Students will have the opportunity to eat breakfast in their
classrooms each morning at no charge.

Thursday, August 27, 2015 from 8:15 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Students who
will normally ride the school bus will ride the MCPS school bus route
that day to school. STUDENT SCHEDULES will be provided at new
student orientation and on the first day of school. Activities for this
day have been planned following a half day school schedule. Students
will visit their classrooms, meet their teachers and receive introductory
information about instructional and business routines. All incoming 6th
grade students and new to SSIMS are encouraged to attend.
Additionally, all incoming 6th gr students and parents are invited to
attend the 6th grade picnic that will be held on August 27, 2015
from 5:00 – 7:00 pm, in the recess field behind SCES .
PHYSICAL EDUCATION There is no required formal uniform for
participation in physical education class; however, there are
requirements for proper dress. Gym shorts, plain T-shirts and rubbersoled athletic shoes should be worn. Students may purchase P.E.
uniforms from our school store. The clothes worn in physical education
class are not to be the same clothes worn in other classes. All students
will receive their own locker for physical education.
PARENT TEACHER STUDENT ASSOCIATION (PTSA) is an
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITY (ECA) – remittance forms have
been mailed directly to all students. The ECA is a one-time fee of
$32.50 for the 2015 - 2016 school year. A reduced fee of $15 is
available for students whose family incomes are below $35,000.
HEALTH ROOM – A nurse and/or a health technician is on duty from
8 a.m.-3:00 p.m. each school day.
EMERGENCY CONTACT
INFORMATION will be requested during the first week of school. It is
important to have every student’s emergency information on file so
that we may contact parents quickly, if necessary. Students who
become ill at school may be picked up in the health room and should
be signed out in the main office.

AUTOBUSES – Todos los alumnos quienes viven a más de 1,5 millas
de distancia de la escuela tendrán servicio de transporte. Los
estudiantes de Inmersión de Francés y/o Español no serán asignados
a un paradero específico. Ustedes podrán escoger su paradero, pero
necesitan ser consistentes en su elección El servicio de transporte es
un privilegio, por lo tanto todos los estudiantes deben cumplir con las

CUOTA DE ACTIVIDADES EXTRACURRICULARES (ECA) Los
formularios de pago han sido enviados por correo directamente a
cada estudiante. La ECA es una única cuota de $32.50 para el año
escolar de 2015 - 2016. Para los estudiantes con padres que tienen un
ingreso familiar menos de $35,000, hay posibilidad de una cuota
reducida de $15. Deben adjuntar copia de los taxes o W-2 como
prueba de ingresos.

ENLACES PARA EL APRENDIZAJE – Linkages to Learning es un
programa de recursos humanos del condado de Montgomery,
localizado en la escuela. El programa ofrece una variedad de servicios

las 12:00 p.m. Los alumnos que normalmente usan el bus escolar de
MCPS, usarán el bus ese día. Este día se seguirá un horario de medio
día de clases. Los alumnos irán a sus salones, conocerán a sus
profesores y recibirán sus horarios e información de introducción
sobre las rutinas escolares.
Así mismo, todos los estudiantes nuevos del gr. 6 y sus padres están
invitados al picnic de bienvenida del gr. 6 que se realizará el 27
de agosto, 2015 de 5 – 7 pm, en el campo de juegos de SCES.

REGLAMENTO DE DISCIPLINA – Silver Spring International
con el horario de clases, o tiene preocupaciones y/o conflictos con el
desarrollo de su hijo/a, por favor comuníquese con el Departamento
de Consejería al 301-562-5240. Las consejeras trabajarán con los
equipos de cada grado para promover un ambiente escolar académico
positivo.
Middle School se preocupa por asegurar un ambiente escolar sano,
ordenado y seguro para que los profesores puedan enseñar y los
estudiantes puedan alcanzar su máximo desarrollo académico y
personal. El reglamento de disciplina escolar está incluido en la
agenda de los estudiantes, las cuales serán entregadas el primer día
de clase. El personal de administración y los profesores repasarán
dichas normas con todos los estudiantes. Por favor lean las reglas con
sus hijo/a para asegurar que ellos entiendan claramente lo importante
que es el seguir las reglas.
EDUCACIÓN FÍSICA – No se requiere uniforme específico para la

utilizada en clase de educación física, no debe ser la misma usada para
otras clases. No se puede usar joyas porque no es seguro. Todos los

DEPARTAMENTO DE CONSEJERÍA – Si usted necesita ayuda
VACUNAS – Los alumnos deben ser vacunados de acuerdo a las
leyes del estado de Maryland, antes de ser matriculados en las
escuelas públicas del Condado de Montgomery. Para este año escolar
2015-16, todos los estudiantes que entran al grado 7 & 8 deben traer
prueba de haber recibido las vacunas Tdap and MCV4. Verifique esta
