Introduction
This document describes the process on how to install feature keys on Cisco
Contributed by Handy Putra, Cisco TAC Engineer.
Question
How to install feature keys on a Cisco ESA, WSA and SMA
Feature Keys are sent from Cisco through email to your nominated address. The email is sent
from "[email protected]" with an attachment that contains the feature keys for install.
Sample feature keys in the attachment below:
To install the feature keys on the appliance via the Command Line Interface (CLI) or the Graphical
User Interface (GUI). Please see the process below:
CLI
CLI> featurekey
Enter feature key, or press Enter to go to the main prompt.
[]> <feature key - from the example above copy and paste the "key" section>
GUI
1. Under System Administration ---> Feature Keys in the 'Feature Activation' section, enter
the feature key into the 'Feature Key' field.
2. Click 'Submit key'.

When key submission is successful, a License Agreement page will appear and require to
'Accept' the agreement.
Once accepted, should receive a message similar to below:

When key submission is not successful, an error message will be generated.
The error message will vary depend on the reason of the failure (for example: feature key is
malformed, feature key has already been used on host).
