Hershey Park Trip
By: Shiwei Tang
May 16, 2014, the orchestra and band went
on a super fun trip in Hershey Park! If you want to
know all the fun things you could do and buy there,
this is the article you’re looking for. I will also put fun
things the band and orchestra did there! So first, on
the bus, the orchestra kids watched Frozen! Thanks
to Katie! The when we got there, the orchestra kids
went to a church to perform. Then we had to rush to
make it in the band’s performance in a school. Then
we went to Hershey Park! At the end of the day, we
went to the award ceremony. There was 1st 2nd 3rd
and 4th level (superior, excellent, good, fair, and
poor). Nobody got superior, fair, and poor. Orchestra got excellent (1st level) 2nd place, which is awesome. Band got good (2nd level) 1st place, which is
awesome too! Then when we’re walking back to the
bus, everyone in band and orchestra shouted
”SHADY GROVE! SHADY GROVE! “Everyone was
Lightening Racer ‐ Hershey Park so proud of their selves! We took a picture of each trophy with band and orchestra. I can see how Mr. Boone
was so proud of us!
If you want to go there in the future, here’s the all the
roller coasters in the park. I have break it down to a few
categories.

Video gaming is a huge thing that has been growing for the past few years. By now everyone wants next-gen
games and consoles. Many of the games being released this year will be great, but which ones are really next-gen?
Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare
I’m sure you’ve heard of the famous Call of Duty franchise. After this many games, 2014 will surely be a
break, right? Wrong! This summer, Activision is bringing out a new game, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. Advanced
Warfare is the embodiment of the future with optic camouflage, laser tanks, and hoverbikes. But will it really be good?
Everyone hopes that this game will be one of the better Call of Duty games out there.
Watch Dogs
Now, here’s one that most of you probably haven’t heard of. Originally set to release late 2013, it has been
postponed to release late 2014. Watch Dogs is the ultimate hacking experience. You play a Aidan Pierce, a professional hacker in an open world environment. The fact that you can hack pretty much everything in the game is amazing.
Added to that, is a multiplayer to singleplayer integration. While playing the game, you can choose to hack into another person’s game and steal data from the character. If you complete it successfully without being caught, you get a
boost in your game. If you don’t and they catch and kill you, they get a boost. Truly a game that might be considered
next-gen.
Destiny
Destiny is the first post-Halo game being made by the newly independent studio Bungie. This also means the
first non-Xbox exclusive game in a very long time. Destiny is another sci-fi first person shooter but is an ambitious,
massive, constantly growing, online persistent world for you to shoot your way through either alone or with your
friends.
There are plenty of other games that are coming out which will
also be great, and I highly recommend looking them up if you’re interestCONTRIBUTORS
ed. I just
thought to put some of the few ones that
stand out
more than the rest. Game on!

So-What-Else Acting
Arietta Cajthaml
May 1,2014
In the SGMS there is an awesome club. That is every Wednesday the name of the club is So What Else acting club. In the after school club we play games, practice for the play, but mostly
have fun with each other. I interviewed some students. Most
students said that to rate from 1-10 they give it a 9. That is
pretty good for a club that is just in a school. The play will be
May 12. There are a lot of children in the play. Mostly girls in
the club. It is about bullying and how it can affect others.
Change their lives. There will be a lot of things to come like
glow sticks, shirts ripping off ,but wait I will not tell you everything or else you will not have a reason to see the show. And
so you should go see the play on May 12.

Layered Soda Drinks
Summer brings fun ways to cool off. Most drinks
seem to be more geared toward grown-ups, leaving
out the under 21 club. Here are two spins on fun,
fruity, layered summer drinks. All ages will be in awe
over the cool look of these beverages. Get creative
by using different types of juices, beverages and diet
sodas. In order to properly layer the drinks, start
with the beverage that has the highest amount sugar
and end with the soda least amount of sugar. These
drinks can be enjoyed by any age since they use nonalcoholic ingredients.

Sprite or diet 7UP
•6 tall clear glasses

juice is frozen solid.
3.In a tall glass, start by adding one of each color ice
cube in this order: red, orange, yellow, green, blue

2.Pour the cranberry juice into a glass, filling it just
less than halfway full. Repeat with remaining five
glasses.

cubes so that it layers onto the cranberry juice.
4.Once all glasses are filled with the cranberry juice
and Gatorade, top each glass off with diet 7UP or

Chocolate Cake in a Jar
Total Time: 1 hr. 45 min
Prep: 20 min
Inactive: 1 hr.
Cook: 25 min
Directions:
You will need: 10 Jars
Make the Cake: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Place 10 jars on a cookie sheet
pan, evenly spaced out.
In a mixer fitted with a whisk attachment (or using a hand mixer), cream the butter
until smooth. Add the sugar and eggs and mix until fluffy, about 2 minutes. Add the vanilla, cocoa, baking soda, and salt and mix. Add half of the flour; then half of the sour
cream, and mix. Repeat with the remaining flour and sour cream. Drizzle in the coffee
and mix until smooth. (The batter will be thin.) Pour the batter into the jars, filling a
little more than half way and bake until the tops almost firm to the touch, about 25
minutes. While the cake is baking, make the Frosting: Melt the butter in a small saucepan over medium heat; then add the brown sugar and 2 tablespoons water and stir
until the sugar is dissolved, for 2 to 3 minutes. Remove from heat and beat in the
powdered sugar adding 1 or 2 tablespoons more water so that the frosting is fairly
liquid and can slide down the sides of the cake in the jar. Let cool then screw on jar
lids and keep at room temperature until ready to eat.

The Rise of YouTube as Entertainment
By Tiffany Kalota
Today YouTube has created a new medium of entertainment. All starting
in 2005, YouTube has turned from a simple website to a mainstream media alternative. This entertainment outlet has led to the rise many of
YouTube stars such as Jenna Marbles, Smosh, Pewdiepie, the Fine Brothers, Grace Helbig, and many others. YouTube is used by many people for
many things, like vloggers such as Tyler Oakley, Troye Sivan, and Connor
Franta to News shows such as SourceFed and the Philip DeFranco to
musicians like Pentatonix and one of the most popular YouTube musician
MiranDasings08. Even budding comedians such as Jack Douglass (from
Maryland) and Toby Turner. Gamers have a special place on YouTube
making millions of dollars just by recording themselves playing video games like Amnesia, OctoDad and Minecraft.
Some of the most popular YouTube gamers are PewDiePie and SkyDoesMinecraft. A YouTuber’s biggest audience is
the people who were raised with the internet: modern day teenagers. Many teens find YouTubers appealing for
many reasons. YouTube and the internet are slowly drowning out television many teens spending more time on the
internet and YouTube than watching TV. Jenna Mourey, age 27, also known as Jenna Marbles, is a comedian and
internet personality who is the most subscribed woman on YouTube. With her over 11 million subscribers and estimated $2.5 million net worth, she has gained worldwide fame through the Internet. Even stars you know today got
their start on YouTube like Justin Beiber. A show on YouTube called “The Annoying Orange” is now on television
due to its gigantic fan base and huge presence on the internet. In conclusion YouTube isn’t just a place for cat videos and funny fail compilations; it is a whole new form of entertainment.
