Annual Distinguished Hispanic Scholars Awards Ceremony – On Wednesday, May 11th, several
of our students will be honored at this prestigious awards ceremony. More information on
these students’ accomplishments will be shared in next week’s message.
Visiting Author – Elle Cosimano, author of Nearly Gone, Nearly Found, and Holding Smoke will
be visiting Seneca Valley to hold a writer’s workshop with students during 8th period on May
12th. This is a wonderful opportunity for our students. For more information, please visit

Annual Student Art Show – Opening Night is on Thursday, May 12th in the Media Center starting
at 5 pm. We hope that you will join us.
After visiting the Art Show, we hope you will then consider joining us in the auditorium for the
Spring Choral Concert starting at 7 pm that same evening.
College Signing Day – On Friday, May 13th, we will be honoring our student athletes who have
accepted scholarships to study and play their sport of choice at the college level during lunch.
Destination College: Understanding the College Admissions Process – an event for parents and
teens in 7th through 11th grades – will be held on Saturday, May 14th at the Germantown Library.
While this is not an endorsement of the event, per se, I did want to make sure our community

Don’t forget that tonight is the first of two U.S. Service Academy Information Forums hosted by
Congressman John K. Delaney with representatives from the U.S. Air Force Academy, the U.S.

Coast Guard Academy, the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, the U.S. Military Academy, and the
U.S. Naval Academy for classes entering summer 2017. All interested 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th
grade students and their parents are invited to attend and learn about the academies and their

Tuesday, May 17th is our monthly PTSA meeting. This meeting will be held concurrently with
our monthly Boosters meeting, a format we have been experimenting with on and off all year. I
sincerely hope many of you will consider coming out to share your perspectives and to give
input on important discussions.
Wednesday, May 18th is our NJROTC 2016 Annual Awards & Change of Command Ceremony.
This program is an amazing part of our school culture, teaching our teens about the importance
of leadership, character, integrity, and service.
The Spring Band Concert is an event not to be missed. We hope you will join us on Thursday,
May 19th in the auditorium to hear the musical styling of our great instrumental program.
