–NO SCHOOL ****************************************************************** SAFETY UPDATES: Afternoon Student Car Rider Line: We appreciate everyone's cooperation with the morning car rider lines. We are still experiencing issues with parents not following our car rider kindness guidelines in the afternoons. We are asking that parents to show kindness in the parking circle and a commitment to safety by following these 3 guidelines: 1. All car riders need to be picked up
from the car rider line
—not the parking lot or on Brick Haven Way or Little Seneca Pkwy. 2. Please do not drive down the parking lanes, and for safety, do not allow your child to exit the car and walk through the parking lot. 3. Please do not park in the parking lot and have your student walk to your car or you get out and the parent walk them over. There have been a few times where cars have almost hit students and staff in our parking lot. 4. All car riders must be picked up no later than 3:15 pm. Safety & Security Drills: This past week we held our first student safety drill. Our cluster safety coordinator was at RHMS to take note send give feedback about our drill. Our school received a 100% with following all safety procedures! A+ Wildcats! RHMS has a fire drill each month and safety drills each semester. When we are having a drill we put a sign on the main door because you may have to wait a few minutes before you can gain admittance to our school. Thank you for your cooperation. If you would like to learn more about the MCPS safety drills: evacuation, fire drills, weather alerts, shelter in place, and lockdown—check out the School Safety & Security website to watch an informative video. http://www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/departments/security/resourcesvideos.aspx th

Run

on October 24, 2015 at RHMS: Packet pickup: Begins at 7:45am to 8:15am (which includes shirt and supplies) ● Warm up: Begin at 8:30am to 9:00am ● Color Fun Run: Begins at 9:15 am We will have sunglasses for sale with (Rocky Hill Middle School) printed on them for $5
– Not only are they sporty and filled with Wildcat Pride, but will also help keep paint from getting in the eyes! You may want to pick up several pair for RHMS Team Spirit! Raffle Tickets
will be for sale – for the various, wonderful raffle items that will be displayed – so you can take a peek beforehand and see which ones you want to purchase a ticket for!!! All Proceeds go to RHMS!!! You may want to take pictures (before and after) in front of our Color Fun Run Banner!!! Would make for great Facebook and Instagram shots (or holiday cards)!!! Donations of canned and dry goods will be accepted for the Wildcats Care Initiative. So, please help support this worthy cause! IMPORTANT:
Although the paint (powder) that is used to throw on the participants during the run is derived from cornstarch and is nontoxic, if you have asthma and use an inhaler, we recommend bringing it and/or using it beforehand just in case. FYI: Research shows that handkerchiefs have also been known to be used by some participants during color fun runs to tie around their mouths to prevent paint from getting in. In most cases, there have been no issues, and our volunteers throwing the paint will be making a conscious effort to throw away from the mouth and eye areas. We will have three water stations available that will be placed strategically throughout the fun run course in order to keep all participants hydrated. We will also have apples, bananas and granola bars available at the run to help refuel. The school is allowing us the use of the restrooms inside,
only before the event for those participating in the run!
Bathrooms will
NOT
be available once the race begins or after the race due to paint coverage!! PLEASE remember
that you do need to prepare yourself and/or your car for the ride home after the run, as you will be a little messy! After you are done with the

) Halloween Information
:
Rocky Hill Middle School does not celebrate Halloween and students should not wear Halloween costumes on October 30. We will have our annual PINK OUT DAY that day so students do have an opportunity to show their spirit to fight cancer! We hope that all students will wear pink and we will have prizes for those students that wear the MOST pink that day. This has been a fun spirit day for our students in the past and we hope PINK OUT DAY 2015 (October 30) will be the best ever! ******************************************************************
