6th Grade Parents.....OUTDOOR EDUCATION IS COMING!!
One of the most exciting events of the sixth-grade year is Outdoor Education. This is a threeday, two-night educational program designed for all Montgomery County sixth-graders. This
experience is an important part of the sixth-grade MCPS curriculum and includes related
assessments or tasks in all subject areas. Rocky Hill students will attend Outdoor Education at
Summit Lake, a beautiful site near Thurmont, MD. Students will attend one of three sessions:
Session 1: April 13 – 15, 2016
Session 2: April 18 – 20, 2016
Session 3: April 20 – 22, 2016
All sessions are fully supervised and staffed by Rocky Hill teachers, administration, parent
volunteers, and high school student counselors. Please mark your calendars to attend the
informative meeting on January 7th in the Rocky Hill cafeteria. See details below.

December -RHMS Highlights Section:
Media Center Volunteers Needed for the New Year: Mrs. Gramatges and Mrs., Heidary in the
Media Center are in need of parent volunteers for January-May in the mornings from 7:45 to
8:10 AM to help out with checking out books, handing out passes, checking contest answers
and just being an adult presence in the Media Center. Any help would be greatly

to Raise Engagement) is responsible for raising the level of engagement between “young men

If you have not already done so, please join the RHMS PTA. YOUR MEMBERSHIP MATTERS:
The more members we have the bigger our collective voice at the school, county and state
level. Membership Dues help support educational enrichment, outreach efforts & student
activities. Joining does not require a time commitment, but any time you can give is
appreciated. By joining the RHMS PTA you receive membership in the RHMS PTA, the Maryland
PTA, and the National PTA. You will also receive a single copy of the RHMS Directory.
