Change in Policy for Inhalers & Epi-pen for OE –
The following is a change in policy regarding epi-pens and inhalers during outdoor education.
This policy is in compliance with current School Health Policy.
Students are NOT permitted to self-carry epipens or inhalers at outdoor education unless the
health room receives a health care provider order and a parent/guardian signature on a 525-13
(inhalers) form or a 525-14 (epi-pen) form specifically stating that a student may self-carry these
emergency medications. The health care provider must complete Part 2 of the appropriate form
and then sign the self-carry section of the form.
You received a copy of these forms in your outdoor education information packet. You may also
download these forms from the Rocky Hill MS website (Outdoor Education link)
If your child will self-carry their medications, please have a draw string backpack for them to
place the medications in to prevent them from getting lost while at Outdoor Education. Rocky
Hill will have drawstring bags for students to use if necessary.
ALL medications and completed forms are due into the health room by April 5.
Paperwork – Thank you to all that have already submitted your OE permission forms and
money! Please remember to send in the forms once you have paid online. When paying online,
remember you can put all charges on a single order; you can click on multiple items. All money,
paperwork, and medication is due NO LATER than April 5th.
RHMS Summer School July 2016
Pending MCPS budget approval, Rocky Hill is planning to offer summer school classes to
incoming 6th, 7th and 8th graders. We are planning on offering Enrichment and Support classes in
math and reading. Specific course offerings and detailed information will be available in late
April. At this time, please be aware that classes are usually held for 3 or 4 weeks in July.
If you have questions, you may contact Lisabeth Belman, RHMS Summer School Coordinator,
at 301-353-8282 or [email protected].
Teens for Jeans Drive: Due to the snow last week the Leo Club is extending our annual Teens
for Jeans, Jean Drive. Please donate any unwanted, gently used jeans to Portable #8. These jeans
will go to area teens living in homeless shelters. Thank you for your support.
Crowded Buses:
We are experiencing an overload of students on route #2602, and 2603, which picks up near the
walk boundary. Students boarding buses that are not approved causes a safety issue. If your
student is a walker, please make sure they are not boarding buses. This area is a developing area,
and space is needed for incoming students. Thanks for all your assistance this school year.
Outdoor Education Fundraiser: 6th Grade Outdoor Education is coming soon! T-shirts are
selling fast, but we still have Youth XL, Adult Large, and Adult XL available. Please help
support our Outdoor Education Program by buying a t-shirt and/or water bottle today! See the
attached flyer for more information.

FUND THE BUS! Please support the PE department and help (Fund the Bus). During PE class the
PE department is selling water to support the Activity Bus during the month of May. Our support
is key. With our help the students will be able to play intramural sports and other afterschool
activities in the spring. Help us Fund the Bus!!
February -RHMS Highlights Section:
Candygrams Feb. 8-11th
CANDYGRAMS are coming. Feb. 8-11th The Rocky Hill Student Government Association will
be selling Candygrams every morning in the main hallway. You can stop by and purchase
a Candygram for 50 cents. You can fill it out and give it to a friend, a teacher or keep it for
yourself. All Candygrams are 50 cents. With proceeds from this event we will then sponsor our
school dance.
Winter dance Feb. 12th
On Friday, Feb. 12th we will have our winter dance from 3:00-4:25 pm. You must purchase your
dance admission by Thursday, Feb. 11th if you would like to attend. Cost of the dance is $5. We
will have activity buses to take students home and we will have music provided by a professional
DJ. Prizes will be awarded throughout the event and concessions will also be sold- including
sodas, water and candy for $1 each. This dance has sold-out every year and we are capping it at
150 students so get your tickets early. Look for the posters around school or see Mr. Conley
with any questions. Come out and support the SGA Winter Dance on Feb. 12th!
Wildcats Care - Spread the Warmth Drive!
Please join Wildcats Care as we help "Spread the Warmth" to the RHMS Wildcats and Daly
Elementary School Bulldogs. NEW hats, gloves and scarves are being collected for Wildcats
and Bulldogs as they walk to school and wait for the bus!
Please send in your donations to the front office marked "WILDCATS CARE" donation.
For additional information, please contact Alicia Wilson @ [email protected]
Media Center Volunteers Needed on Thursday Mornings: We are in need of parent
volunteers on Thursday mornings from 7:45 to 8:10 AM to help out with crowd control-just
having an additional adult presence to circulate in the Media Center is a great help to us. The
new sign up link can be found at: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0e49aea729a5fb6parent
Mrs. Gramatges and Mrs., Heidary in the Media Center greatly appreciate the help our
community has given us this year! Having volunteers in the media center in the mornings allow
us to continue to have our (100 or more) students visit us each morning.

WILDCATS CARE SSL OPPORTUNITY
Consider planning and implementing a food and/or school supply drive for the Wildcats Care
Market. This is an independent/small group SSL project. On your own you will plan the drive,
advertise, and collect items for Wildcats Care. Through your drive you can collect nonperishable foods, toiletries, paper products, and/or school supplies for the Wildcats Care Market.
You can hold your drive in your neighborhood, religious community, extended family, scouts, a
store, or other ideal location. The goal for each drive is a minimum of 40 items per student. All
hours for the drive will be done outside of the school day. For more information please
email Dana Walker at [email protected].
