6th Grade – Outdoor Education Updates/Reminders:
Change in Policy for Inhalers & Epi-pen for OE –
The following is a change in policy regarding epi-pens and inhalers during outdoor education.
This policy is in compliance with current School Health Policy.
Students are NOT permitted to self-carry epi-pens or inhalers at outdoor education unless the
health room receives a health care provider order and a parent/guardian signature on a 525-13
(inhalers) form or a 525-14 (epi-pen) form specifically stating that a student may self-carry these
emergency medications. The health care provider must complete Part 2 of the appropriate form
and then sign the self-carry section of the form.
You received a copy of these forms in your outdoor education information packet. You may also
download these forms from the Rocky Hill MS website (Outdoor Education link)
If your child will self-carry their medications, please have a draw string backpack for them to
place the medications in to prevent them from getting lost while at Outdoor Education. Rocky
Hill will have drawstring bags for students to use if necessary.
ALL medications and completed forms are due into the health room by April 5.
Paperwork – Thank you to all that have already submitted your OE permission forms and
money! Please remember to send in the forms once you have paid online. When paying online,
remember you can put all charges on a single order; you can click on multiple items. All money,
paperwork, and medication is due NO LATER than April 5th.
Parent Volunteers – We NEED parent volunteers for Outdoor Education. All parent volunteers
forms (found in OE packet) must be turned in no later than February 25th. For additional
information regarding parent volunteers, check out our RH
website: http://www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/schools/rockyhillms/news/announcements/outd
oor_ed.aspx
Parent Volunteers – The Child Abuse & Neglect Training at Rocky Hill on March 1st from 6 –
7:30 pm in the cafeteria is CONFIRMED!! You do not need to sign up in advance.
Cabins – This past week, the 6th grade held their first OE Talk about Cabins. Students got to see
pictures of the cabins, learn about Cabin Idol and hear our expectations and their responsibilities
in the cabins. The power point we shared with the students is on our RH website. Check it out!!

Media Center Volunteers Needed on Thursday Mornings: We are in need of parent
volunteers on Thursday mornings from 7:45 to 8:10 AM to help out with crowd control-just
having an additional adult presence to circulate in the Media Center is a great help to us. The
new sign up link can be found at: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0e49aea729a5fb6parent
Mrs. Gramatges and Mrs., Heidary in the Media Center greatly appreciate the help our

us to continue to have our (100 or more) students visit us each morning.
