Typical Day at
Outdoor Education
First Day….
If you are NOT going to camp ride your bus to school! You
have a normal day. Your teachers will make sure you know
where to go if they are going to be at camp.
If you are GOING to camp, you will arrive at Rocky Hill
between 9:00 – 9:30 am. A parent must drive you!! You may
NOT ride the bus with all your gear! Do not come early!!
Teachers are busy getting ready and we can not watch you.
Bring with you the following items:
*Lunch
*Pillow
*Sleeping bag or sheet & blanket
*Suitcase/duffel bag etc
*Pencil – will use on bus ride
*Wear long pants & appropriate shoes.
Be ready to hike in!
First Day…
Staff will greet you outside the entrance by the dining
room. Leave your luggage and sleeping bag outside in the
designated area. Teachers will check with each person
before entering the dining hall to make sure you are
dress appropriately and have everything.
You will get your journal from the stage and sit with your
instructional group at the assigned tables.
Around 9:45 – 10 we will load the buses by instructional
groups. The bus will drop us off a few miles from camp
and we will hike in. We will collect the journals, but you
will carry anything else you have on the bus with you.
Your luggage will go directly to camp. During the hike we
will talk about safety, boundaries, rules etc.
First Day…
Once at camp we will have lunch (about 12:30)
then go to the cabins and unpack.
We have one class in the afternoon from
2:30 – 4:45.
We have dinner at 5:00.
Cabin Idol planning time and journal writing from 6:00 – 6:55 pm
in your cabin.
Evening Activities begin at 7pm and end around 9:15 pm.
(Trust Walk, Campfire, & Carnival)
We have a light snack after evening activities.
After snack we head to the cabins for showers and journal
writing. Lights out around 10:00.
Second Day…
Wake up at 7:00am, morning exercises at 7:30,
breakfast at 8:00.
After breakfast you will go back to the cabins and
clean up. Your cabins will be inspected and scored!
Get ready for the day -pencil, journal, long pants,
jacket, etc.
We have one class from 9:30 – 11:45, then we eat
lunch at 12:00, and then another class in the
afternoon from 1:30 – 3:30.
Free recreation time is from 3:30 – 4:45.
If you are Camping w/the Principal this is
when you will set up your tent.
Second Day…
Dinner is at 5:00 pm.
From 6:00 – 6:55 pm, you will go back to your cabins and finalize
your Cabin Idol presentation.
Evening activities are from 7:00 – 9:15.
Cabin Idol, Night Hike, Glow in the Dark Whiffle Ball.
We will have a light snack before bed.
While in your cabins, you will be preparing
for bed, packing up your gear and writing
in your journals.
Nighty night!! Lights out around 10:00.
Third Day…
Wake up at 7:00am, morning exercises at 7:30, breakfast at
8:00.
After breakfast you will go back to the cabins, and get ready for
the day – pencil, journal, long pants, jacket etc. Then you will
bring down all your gear and do a final cabin clean up. Your
cabins will be inspected and scored!
We have one final class from 9:30 – 10:45 and lunch at 11:00.
We load the buses around 12:30 and head back to Rocky Hill.
You MUST have a ride home once
we arrive at RH! Someone must be at
RH by 1:15 to take you and your gear home!!!!!!
