NEWS from the IB Office, April 2016 Attendance Procedures for AP/IB Exams 1. Reporting times and anticipated dismissal times for IB and AP exams are listed on the IB/AP
Combined Testing Schedule. 2. Students who take an IB or an AP exam on any given day are excused from all regular
classes here at Watkins Mill on that day. The attendance office will be notified of the excused
absence(s) of students taking the exams. Students who are involved in an IB or an AP exam will
be marked PRESENT for school records. 3. If a student becomes ill and cannot attend an exam s/he should call the WMHS attendance office
to report the illness. Additionally, any student who becomes unable to attend a scheduled exam
should contact the following individuals: IB Exam: Call Mrs. Ingram at the IB Office by 7:10 AM. (301) 840-3975 (or) (540)
686-2771. Leave a message if nobody picks up the call. AP exam: Call the Ms. Estwick by 7:10 AM (301) 284-4421. Leave a message if nobody
picks up the call. 4. If students are in the building during instructional hours on a day for which they are scheduled for
an IB or an AP exam, they will be expected to attend classes and MAY NOT simply plan to spend
the day in the Media Center studying, for example. Anyone planning to miss classes to prepare for
an AM/PM exam must plan to do so off campus, and be assured of reliable transportation to and
from the exam session, whether on or off campus. 5. Students should not ask to leave early if they finish before the end of the test, as their requests will
be denied. Students who play a sport or have a job, are responsible for informing coaches or
employers of IB/AP obligations and making arrangements accordingly. For students who wish to eat breakfast at school before an AM exam, please check in with
someone at your test site so we know you are in the building, but then go grab your food at
your normal period one location. Exams may run longer than STEP; however, if that is the case a box lunch option will be available.
Students need to let Mrs. Ingram or Ms. Estwick know first thing in the AM of their exam day if
they wish to have a box lunch. Students may choose to bring a lunch as well on IB/AP exam
days. Exams may run longer than the school day. If that is the case, the students must make
arrangements in advance to get a ride home as school busses will be running on regular
