Principal’s Message
Upcoming Dates:
Good Evening Timberwolf Families!

5/2-6 – Staff Appreciation Week
This past week was Administrative Professionals week. I would like to
take a moment to thank Ms. Umberger, Mrs. Ogden, Mrs. Patton, and Ms.
Kitts. They do an amazing job making sure that the school is running
smoothly and everything works!

5/3 – Soccer, Girls Home, Boys
Coming up this week is Staff Appreciation Week. As you know our staff
works incredibly hard to meet the needs of our students and to make sure
that they get a world class education. I want to thank our teachers for all
of their hard work and dedication.
This past Thursday, we also had our annual career day. The event was a
great success. We had 29 volunteer speakers, plus two keynote
speakers (former JPMS student, Dr. Josh Funk and Fox 5 DC News
Anchor, Wisdom Martin) who spoke with our 8th graders about their career
choices while providing them with tips about exploring and preparing for
various careers. I would like to thank our counseling department for
coordinating such an awesome event. In addition, I would also like to
thank all of the parents who supported this event and provided food and
support for our guests and students. It was a powerful experience for our
students. They got to end their day listening to the fantastic music of the
United States Navy Band’s Cruisers. (You can see some pictures of the
students enjoying it below).
Have a great weekend and we are looking forward to another great week
next week!
Respectfully,
Mr. Robert Sinclair Jr, Principal

School Year Extended by One Day
MCPS will extend the 2015–2016 school year by one day and end the year on Monday, June 20, 2016. The
MCPS request for a one-day waiver of the 180-day school year requirement was approved on April 18 by the
Maryland State Department of Education. The school year was previously scheduled to end Friday, June 17, and
now will end with an early release day on June 20. June 17 will be a full instructional day.
MCPS was closed for six days this winter due to inclement weather that left many roads and sidewalks in the
county impassable. MCPS already had four emergency weather days built into the school calendar. With the
state waiving one day from the requirement, MCPS has implemented its weather contingency calendar, which
adds one make-up day to the end of the school year.
Hallway Heroes
Hallway Heroes are students we honor for demonstrating exemplary PRIDE behaviors as they move from class
to class, helping to keep our hallways safe and comfortable for everyone. The students recognized below
consistently demonstrate Purpose, Respect, Integrity, Dedication and Effort everywhere they go at JPMS. They
are Hallway Heroes and we are proud to celebrate their high expectations and their Timberwolf
PRIDE! Congratulations to last week’s winners:
