Principal’s Message
Upcoming Dates:
Good Evening!
This week was the first week of the fourth marking period and report cards
will be coming home next Friday. In a short 43 (possibly 45) days the
marking period and the school year will come to an end. I would like to
see all of our Timberwolves finish on a strong note. Please be sure to
continue to check Edline and to work with your teachers to make sure you
get the support you need to be successful.
I did say that we have either 43 or 45 school days left. That is due to the
snow days that we have had this year. This year we had 6 snow days
and the MCPS calendar allowed for four missed days. Recently MCPS
submitted a waiver request to the Maryland State Department of
Education asking for those two days to be waived and that was denied.
As of right now, based on the school calendar, students will be in school
on Monday, June 20 and Tuesday, June 21. However, MCPS is working
on an additional waiver request. As soon as we hear more we will be in
touch.
Our next honor roll assembly, honoring students who have had perfect
attendance, earned honor roll, and who have earned straight As for the
third marking period will be on May 6, 2016. If you would like for your child
to NOT be included in this assembly and in our honor roll lists, please
complete and return this form by April 29. This form was sent home to all
students at the start of the year, but you can update it if you would like.


Hallway Heroes are students we honor for demonstrating exemplary PRIDE behaviors as they move from class

8th Grade Dance Updates
Reminder: The 8th Grade Dance will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at the Poolesville Baptist Church. The dance
will be from 7:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. and the theme will be “An Evening Under the Big Top.” Please turn in your
RSVP and money to the main office by April 20th. Click here to view the 8th Grade Dance Information.
The 8th Grade Dance Committee is looking for parent volunteers for the dance on Saturday, May 21, 2016. We need help
setting up the room the evening before (Fri. 5/20) and the day of the dance. We also need volunteers to collect
tickets, chaperone and work at food/game booths during the dance, as well as help cleaning up afterwards. Please use the
following link to sign up for one or more time slots. Also, a separate sign up for food and gift card donations will follow in
the next week, so please keep an eye out! Thank you for your help in making this a memorable evening for our 8th graders.

We are also looking for gift cards and monetary donations. Gift cards in increments of $10 (iTunes, Mooey's, movies,
McDonalds, etc.--anything 8th graders might like) will be given out as door prizes during the dance. Donations can be
dropped off in the PTA mailbox in the school office, or please contact Hisaho Blair at [email protected] to coordinate
delivery. Finally, please watch for a sign up for food donations coming out next week. Thank you for all your help in
making the dance a success!
Attention 6th Grade Parents
BE PREPARED! The Maryland mandatory immunization requirements will change next year when your child
enters 7th grade. The new requirements for 7th grade are: Meningococcal (MCV) & Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria,
pertussis/whooping cough). Visit your child’s health care provider for required immunizations. Please provide
proof of immunizations to your school’s health room as soon as possible. If you have any questions, please call
the nurse or health tech at 301-407-1029.
PARCC Testing Schedule
At John Poole Middle School, students will be taking the PARCC between May 9 and May 27. We will run two
sessions a day, the schedule can be found below, please note that ELA stands for English Language Arts. Please
make every effort to avoid scheduling appointments on the day your child’s grade level is testing.
