Band is the most active, energetic and visible music group at Paint Branch. We perform at
football games, parades, and competitions throughout the fall season. Join us and become a
member of this fun, exciting and growing ensemble!
At this time you need to reserve your spot with the 2016 Marching Panthers. By registering, you
are committing yourself for the entire Fall 2016 season. Please complete the attached forms and
return them with your deposit of $100 by Friday, May 27th. This deposit reserves your spot
on the field for our halftime show. It also covers many costs associated with the marching

additional one-time fee for students who need marching shoes, gloves, and t-shirt. If you need

June 7th & 8th “Boot Camp” Rehearsals - 3:30 – 5:30
All members of the 2016 Marching Band should plan to attend two afternoon rehearsals on June
7th & 8th. Students will learn music for the fall season’s halftime shows, fundamental marching
techniques, and experience the energy and excitement of the marching band family. These
rehearsals are STRONGLY recommended to set us up for success in the fall.
Students who wish to be on the Drumline and Colorguard MUST be at these rehearsals if they
plan to play a marching drum or perform with the Colorguard in the fall. Drumline auditions
may be held to assign a percussion instrument to each prospective member of the drumline.
The Boot Camp will be held in the Paint Branch Music Room (1115).
Enter at the front of the building and look for a Marching Band Member to lead you to our room!

Rehearsal Schedule for 2016-2017 School Year
Rehearsals during the school year will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays after school. All
rehearsals are mandatory. If you play a fall sport and are worried about a possible conflict,
contact Mr. Kirchhoff ASAP to see if you may still participate in the marching band.
Football Games
The band performs pre-game and halftime shows at home games, and plays in the stands at away
games. All HOME games and TWO AWAY GAMES are mandatory. Additional games will
only be required if the team makes it to the MD State Playoffs.
When the football team has a home game, the band will rehearse that day immediately after
school. This is a “dress rehearsal” for that day’s game. All game-day rehearsals must be
attended in order to perform at that game.
Competitions
The marching band will participate in 3-4 competitions during the 2016 season. Competitions are
held on Saturdays, and take most of the day due to rehearsal, travel time, our performance, and
the awards ceremony. PLEASE leave your entire day free on competition days.
Detailed schedules for each competition will be published 10-14 days in advance of each
competition. Competitions are a GREAT experience for our marchers, and we look forward to
building on the success of our band’s awesome 2016 season!
Marching Band Social Activities – DCI Shows
Drum Corps International (DCI) competitions feature the best Marching Bands in the world, all

features several of the top Drum Corps! There is an option to participate in daytime workshops
alongside the Cadets and Cadets2 from 10:00-5:00 on this date. More details to come soon.
Thursday, August 11th – 6:30 p.m. - BIG, LOUD & LIVE 13 – DCI Quarterfinals broadcast
LIVE into local movie theaters on the big screen. This is an awesome event that will last about 4
hours. Check www.dci.org/cinema for time and locations later this summer. Paint Branch
marching band staff and section leaders plan to attend the show at the Columbia AMC 14
Theater. Tickets usually cost about $17 for this 5-hour marching event. Feel free to join us!
