Grade assignments and give prompt feedback to students. Update Pinnacle
at least
every two weeks.
Grades must be updated by 12PM the day progress reports are distributed. Attend staff in‐service trainings on the use of Pinnacle and Edline. Each cohort will decide on 7‐10 common assessments per quarter. Any additional checking for understanding activities that an individual teacher wants to include in the gradebook will be put in the homework category. Each cohort will use the Google spreadsheet to ensure that no one assessment is more than 25% of the quarterly grade. By the Interim date, a minimum of (2) homework assignments for completion and (3) assessments should be recorded. Assignments should have a reasonable window between due date and deadline as determined by the nature of the assignment and MUST be communicated in advance to students. Identify which assessments can be reassessed by writing a Capital “R” before the title of the assignment. Place the due date in the drop down date menu. Teacher Responsibilities Edline ✓

Some teachers may use various other applications (ex. google classroom) to post assignments in addition to Edline. Each of these additional applications will be made available through Edline via a link on the teacher’s home page. This must also be communicated on the teacher syllabus/BTSN. G and R Basics ✓

0= A Zero on an assignment; affects final calculation; no credit given. X= Assignment does not factor into final grade documentation. Z= Assignment not turned in, may be handed in before the deadline, and will count as a 0 at final calculation if not. Homework for completion is a learning skill. It is an extension of the day’s learning that shall be used on the subsequent day to focus learning. It may have the same due date and deadline. The assignment breakdown will be 90% assessments and 10% homework. Assignment no longer needs to be weighted. The weight of an assignment will be reflected in its point value. Course‐alike planning teams should determine which assessments will go into each Marking Period grade. They will then determine course‐consistent grades as determined by their curriculum. Special care must be taken to ensure that no one assignment unfairly skews a category. For example, a quiz worth 50 points in the assessment category where total point value of category by the end of the MP is 100 points means that the one quiz would have a value of 45% of the MP grade. Departments will determine ranges of point values for different tasks. (i.e. 15‐30 points for Quizzes, 50‐100 points for Unit Tests, 5‐10 points for graded classwork.)
