BLESS THIS DAY.
This day is full of beauty and
adventure,
help me Lord to be fully alive to it
all.
During this day, may I become a
more thoughtful person,
a more prayerful person, a more
generous and kindly person.
Help me not to be turned in on
myself but
to be sensitive and helpful to
others.
Let me do nothing today that will
hurt anyone,
but let me help at least a little,
to make life more pleasant for
those I meet.
Lord God, bless this day for me
and all of us.
Make it a day in which we grow a
little more like your Son,
and gentle as Mary His
Mother.
Este día está lleno de belleza y
aventura, AYUDAME Señor
para estar totalmente vivo a
todo. Durante este día, puedo
ser una persona más reflexiva,
una persona más oración, una
persona más bondadosa y
generosa. Me ayudan a no
encender mí mismo sino ser
sensible y útil a los demás. Me
deja hacer nada hoy que le hace
daño a nadie, pero quiero ayuda
por lo menos un poco, para
hacer la vida más agradable
para los que conozco. Cuando
llega la noche, puedo miro hacia
atrás en este día sin
remordimientos; y puede nadie
ser infeliz por todo lo que he
dicho o hecho o no. Señor Dios,
bendice este día para mí y para
todos nosotros. Que sea un día
en el que crezca un poco más
como tu hijo y suave como su
madre María.
Amen.
Amén.
When night comes, may I look
back on this day without regrets;
and may nobody be unhappy
because of anything
I have said or done or failed to
do.

Using GPS to Navigate Life
A er Mass today, have a conversa on with your
children, asking, “What do you want to be when you
grow up?” A er a few moments of discussion, ask, “Who
do you think God wants you to be when you grow up?”
Emphasize to your children that God has a specific plan in
mind for them, and that following God’s plan is the surest
way to happiness. Every life decision—which college to
a end, whom to date, which job to pursue, whether to
enter seminary, whom to marry—should be undertaken
only a er praying for God’s guidance. In other words,
encourage kids to navigate life using GPS—God’s
Posi oning System.

UNDERSTANDING THE BIBLE By Mary Elizabeth Sperry,
Associate Director for UƟlizaƟon of the New American Bible
(from the US Conference of Catholic Bishops)
The Bible is all around us. People hear Scripture readings in
church. We have Good Samaritan (Luke 10) laws, welcome
home the Prodigal Son (Luke 15), and look for the Promised
Land (Exodus 3, Hebrews 11). Some biblical passages have
become popular maxims, such as "Do unto others as you
would have them do unto you (Ma hew 7:12)," "Thou shalt
not steal (Exodus 20:15), and "love thy neighbor" (Ma hew
22:39). Today's Catholic is called to take an intelligent,
spiritual approach to the bible. Listed here are some points
for frui ul Scripture reading, with more to follow next
week!
Bible reading is for Catholics. The Church encourages
Catholics to make reading the Bible part of their daily prayer
lives. Reading these inspired words, people grow deeper in
their rela onship with God and come to understand their
place in the community God has called them to in himself.
Prayer is the beginning and the end. Reading the Bible
is not like reading a novel or a history book. It should begin
with a prayer asking the Holy Spirit to open our hearts and
minds to the Word of God. Scripture reading should end
with a prayer that this Word will bear fruit in our lives,
helping us to become holier and more faithful people.
Get the whole story! When selecƟng a Bible, look for a
Catholic ediƟon. A Catholic edi on will include the Church's
complete list of sacred books along with introduc ons and
notes for understanding the text. A Catholic edi on will
have an imprimatur no ce on the back of the tle page. An
imprimatur indicates that the book is free of errors in
Catholic doctrine.
The Bible isn't a book. It's a library. The Bible is a
collec on of 73 books wri en over the course of many
centuries. The books include royal history, prophecy, poetry,
challenging le ers to struggling new faith communi es, and
believers' accounts of the preaching and passion of Jesus.
Knowing the genre of the book you are reading will help you
understand the literary tools the author is using and the
meaning the author is trying to convey.
All Healing Prayer Team members, plan to aƩend the
meeƟng this Wednesday at 5:30 in the Church.
