BUNCOMBE COUNTY
Donavan Lance is a graduate of Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College where he earned
his associate of science and was selected to be a graduation marshal. Donavan was also an active
member of the Robotics Society, National Society of Leadership and Success, and Phi Theta Kappa
Honor Society. In 2015, he served as a Linux Kernel contributor and Fedora Project QA team member.
He plans to major in computer engineering.
CRAVEN COUNTY
San Bawi is a graduate of Craven Community College (CCC) where he earned his associate of
science and was recognized on the Dean’s List for his scholastic achievement. San was a member
of Phi Theta Kappa and worked as a tutor for the TRIO program at CCC. San also served as a
Seas Scholar in engineering where he volunteered at local STEM fairs. He plans to major in civil
engineering.
DURHAM COUNTY
Luis Enrique Aguilar Angel is a graduate of Durham Technical Community College (DTCC)
where he earned his associate of science. Luis was the treasurer for Cambiando Caminos and held
membership with the Visions: Leadership Initiative and DT Soccer Club. Luis’ professional endeavors
include working as a research assistant for the Constructed Facility Laboratory at NC State and as a
lab monitor for the Math & Science Computer Lab at DTCC. He plans to major in civil engineering.
Madeline Yun will graduate from Durham Technical Community College (DTCC) in August 2017 with
her associate of engineering. Madeline was a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and
was on the President’s List for four consecutive semesters at DTCC. Madeline was heavily involved
with the Phage Hunter’s Lab and NASA Swarmathon where she co-authored a technical paper on
methods and experiments used for swarm algorithms. She plans to major in chemical engineering.
GUILFORD COUNTY
Amanda Currie is a graduate of Rockingham Community College (RCC) where she earned her
associate of arts and science. Amanda received numerous academic awards during her time at RCC
including the Outstanding Associate in Science Graduate Award, Dean’s List, and President’s List
honors. Outside of her academics, Amanda volunteers with the Backpack Ministry and the Society for
Creative Anachronism. She plans to major in chemical engineering.

Nicholas Rosato is a graduate of Guilford Technical Community College (GTCC) where he earned
his associate of science. Nicholas is the assistant director for E3 Robotics in Greensboro and the
former president of the Robotics Team with FIRST Robotics. From 2010 to 2014, Nicholas worked as
a STEM instructor assistant for the Greensboro Science Center where he co-facilitated curriculum on
electronic circuitry, physics, and more. He plans to major in mechanical engineering.
JOHNSTON COUNTY
Emma Hall is a graduate of Johnston Community College where she earned her associate of
science and was awarded the Keystone Leaders scholarship and membership into Phi Theta Kappa.
Emma’s research experience includes developing two papers on the effects of diet and exercise on
Parkinson’s disease, as well as the history of neurofibromatosis. In spring 2016, Emma interned with
the Partnership for Children at Johnston County. She plans to major in biological sciences.
SAMPSON COUNTY
Michael Cavenaugh is a graduate of Johnston Community College (JCC) where he earned his
associate of science. Michael was president of JCC’s STEM Club, a member of Phi Theta Kappa
Honor Society, and graduation marshal for the JCC Class of 2016. In 2014, Michael completed basic
law enforcement training at Sampson Community College in Clinton, North Carolina. He plans to
major in civil engineering.
WAKE COUNTY
Oscar Molina is a graduate of Wake Technical Community College (WTCC) where he earned his
associate of engineering along with both Dean’s List and President’s List honors. Oscar works as a
maintenance technician for St. Augustine’s University where he is responsible for event coordination
and preventative maintenance. Oscar is also a former volunteer for Iglesia Renovacion Chrstiana. In
his spare time, Oscar enjoys learning programming languages including C++ and Java. He plans to
major in computer science.
Richard Trevorrow is a graduate of Wake Technical Community College (WTCC) where he earned
his associate of engineering and was a member of the WTCC Honors Society. Richard was an
instructor for Imhotep Academy where he co-taught computer engineering software to elementary
and middle school students. Richard also worked as a data capturer for the Maximizing the Impact
of STEM Outreach program as part of the NC State Science House. He plans to major in computer
science.
