Research
We have used our ICT time this
term to help us research our
history topic. As well as finding
out about the differences
between Athens and Sparta, we
chose our own research area
linked to the topic.
PSHE & RE
Beginnings
We have been finding out
about the beginning of the
Sikh and Christian religions.
We enjoyed writing an eye
witness account and finding
out about the 5 Ks.
Science and DT
Animals, including Humans,
To help us understand the human
circulatory system, we pretended to be
parts of the body and acted it out. We
also designed our own experiments to
test the effects of exercise on pulse
rate.
History
Ancient Greece
History has been our favourite topic this term! We learnt
about the Ancient Greeks. One of our favourite things was
learning about the differences between living in Athens or
Sparta and debating this. We also enjoyed finding out
about the origins of the Olympics.
Languages
French
Our French vocabulary is
improving as we have been
learning words for food,
school subjects. We can now
order something to eat or
drink in a café.
PE
Our catching and throwing
skills are improving through
learning netball and rugby.
In Sportshall Athletics it
was fun taking part in the
tournament against others.
Class 5/6 Spring 2017
Literacy and Maths are taught
using a skills-based approach and
making links to the curriculum
where possible.
Art and Design
Greek Pottery
We have enjoyed looking at
examples of Greek pottery and
designing our own.
Outdoor Learning and Trips
(Linked to History Topic)
Using the Samsung tablets to find out
about the parade for Athena in the
Parthenon Gallery was the best part of
our trip! We also enjoyed looking at
artefacts from Ancient Greece which
we had seen and learned about.
