Child Find Screening
Almira School District
Wednesday, May 10th, 2017 9:00 AM-12:00 PM
What is a Child Find Screening?
Screening is a free check of your child's development including:
Large muscle development
Eye-hand coordination (fine motor skills)
Communication
Concepts
Personal-social skills
Self-help skills
What is the purpose of a Child Find Screening?
The purpose of the screen is to identify any factors that may interfere with your child's learning, growth, and development. The screening is also provided to help parents identify their child's strengths and weaknesses and provide home
suggestions.
What happens during a Child Find Screening?
During the screening, your child may stack small blocks, cut with a scissors, draw, count, name colors, jump, and have
fun! Following the screening, a trained professional will talk with you about the results of the screening. You will have
the opportunity to ask any questions about your child’s development. You may be given home suggestions, referred on
for further testing, or be scheduled to have skills rechecked at a later date. The screening process usually takes about 45
minutes.
Who is eligible to be screened?
Any child, birth to age five, whose family or care givers would like more information about their child’s development.
All school districts within Washington State have Child Find screenings available. If your family is living in a temporary situation, you may contact the district where you are staying to attend a screening.
Where can I go for screening?
For more information and to schedule a screening, please contact:

Dear Parent(s) or Guardian(s),
You are invited to our Pre-Kindergarten Roundup Monday May 22nd, 2017 from 8:30AM to 10:30AM.
Miss Teri Hughes-Bentley will be teaching the pre-k class again this fall. This is your opportunity to familiarize your child and
yourself with the school and the routine, as well as, the daily expectations of your pre-k student.
Please bring your child’s immunizations, birth certificate and social security number if they have one (optional). We will
have registration forms available that will need to be filled out prior to the end of this school year so that we may get them in
the system for next year.
Please RSVP to the school or Miss Teri and let us know the number of people who will be attending. If you are planning on
sending your child to Pre-K but will not be able to make the roundup, please let us know. Or if you are NOT planning on
sending your child to Pre-K next school year, please let us know.
We look forward to hearing from you.
Call the school at 639-2414 or email with questions.

Congratulations and thank you to Donna McCleary
who has tirelessly volunteered her services to our
school. On any given Thursday you will find her copying, laminating, or any number of duties the teachers
can find for her to do. She is invaluable to us and is so
deserving of this WA School Administrators award!
