What are we learning?

Classes & Schedules
Sra. Martinez teaches all First
Graders, and Mrs. Jones & Mrs. Callis
K’s Classes, plus Mrs. Schwartz 4th
Graders.
Sra. Bowden is enjoying all 2nd,
3rd, 4th (except Mrs. Schwartz) & 5th
graders. In K level she teaches Mrs.
Kiesler, Lindstrom and Charity’s
Classes.
4th and to 5th Graders will have a
grade going home every 9 weeks, so
you can follow they progress.
K & 1st will bring you their
weekly Spanish Activity and Second &
Third their quizzes.
Students will learn the basics such as
greetings, parts of the day, responding
to questions about their name,
classroom objects, counting 1 to 10,
vowel sounds and the colors. Our
Kindergarteners can sing the following
songs: Hola amigos , Chocolate &
Adios Amigos! During the month
of May: we will concentrate in the
Spring and food vocabulary and read
related stories.
In First Grade:
Students will review the Basic Topics
such as Greetings, Colors, Numbers 0
to 20, the days of the Week, the
months and how to share their name,
age and feelings. They will learn to
sing the Mi Cuerpo. In May we will
practice Animal Vocabulary, & read
about 5 Senses and the 5 de mayo
fiesta. They will do a sombrero.

In Second Grade:
We are now learning family
vocabulary and the different rooms in
the casa= house. We are associating
colors too to describe things around us.
We read about the Cinco de Mayo and
did a Mexican Poncho. Ask your child
to tell you the Pledge and the date=
fecha in Spanish and to sing you the
Familia song and The Casa song.
Third Grade:
We are expressing our likes and
dislikes with food and some activities.
We are practicing the verb to want=
querer, so we can order some dishes at
the restaurant.
We learned the sounds of the
Spanish alphabet and will be spelling
our names and common Spanish words.
Ask your student to recite the Alphabet,
the Poem about the Orange Grove and to
sing for you the Food Song .

In Fourth Grade:
Students are now learning
about countries and their Capitals
and nationalities. We will start
studying S-V Spanish words next
week. And concentrate on the
concepts of the Plural and Gender.
We will finish the school with the
study of the Subject Pronouns and
then a Classroom Fiesta. Ole!!
Zero to 100. They have taken 3 quizzes
and their first nine weeks Grade will be
sent home soon. It is again a combination
of class work/homework/participation &
quizzes, so please tell your child to
complete their homework.
We are now working on describing a
classroom and its objects, on responding to
12 Commands and on getting acquainted
with the Beautiful Mexican Celebration of
“Dia de los Muertos”. After reading about
this tradition & watching a video, students
had to write a Paragraph of at least 5-6
lines. Students are assigned a weekly
homework that will be posted on this
website. In FIFTH GRADE
Students: Congratulations on
your Placement Test. We are still
practicing the conjugation of “-Ar”
Sapnsih verbs.
And we will create this month using
those verbs small Spanish
sentences.
To learn and study the Spanish
speaking world will have a Project
assigned on May 15th. With a
partner we will present your
country to the class in the next 2
weeks. Do a good job for your last
Project!

4 & 5 Grade HW: Tarea
Remember your letter grade is a
combination of Class work, Participation,
Tarea, quizzes and Projects. Always study
aloud.
For K and 1st Graders we use E: for
Excellent, S: for Satisfactory and N: Need to
Improve.
Fourth Graders: Complete and Study your
worksheet. Quizzes are every other week.
Fifth: Now due your Clothing & Activities
Project. Your last project will be about a
Spanish speaking Country. Directions will be
giving on May 15th
