Upgrading ChequeScribe 32 to TROY Checkwriting

Caution: Backup all data files before performing the
ChequeScribe 32 Upgrade.
Section 1:
What does the ChequeScribe 32 upgrade NOT consider?
The upgrade will NOT:
1) Upgrade ManualCheques 32 or the Reconciliation Module or the File
Encryption Service. An update to ManualCheques 32 is available
separately, and only after this upgrade is applied. Please call TROY
Technical Support to update the ManualCheques 32 to the Manual
Checks Module.
2) Upgrade Positive Pay configurations for any customers currently
using Version 3.4 or less. Please call TROY Technical Support for
assistance in rebuilding the Positive Pay configuration.
3) Update any custom designed Crystal Reports. Any Version 3.3 or less
users of custom designed custom Crystal Reports will need to have their
reports updated to the new release. Please call TROY Technical Support
for assistance and pricing.
4) Create indexes in the global.mdb file to increase performance of
features such as re-import. Please call TROY Technical Support for
assistance in manually adding these indexes.
5) Preset the new continuation page logical printer definition for
Version 3.2 and Version 3.3 users. Version 3.2 and Version 3.3 users
will need to re-configure their existing printer definitions to assign a
Continuation Page logical printer in the Multiple Page Printer tab. Previous
versions did not support the definition of a separate continuation page
printer.
6) In a shared environment, the upgrade will need to be performed on
multiple workstations. After the first workstation is upgraded, it will be
important to backup all of the original backup files created by the upgrade
so that they are not overwritten by subsequent upgrades.
7) Make available some new enhancements to the product. Please call
TROY Technical Support for more information about related
enhancements.
8) Relocate any program or data files.

Section 2:
What will the ChequeScribe 32 upgrade do?
This upgrade performs the following tasks:
1) Reads the workstation’s registry to obtain current program and data
path locations. The upgrade process confirms these paths with the user
during installation by checking for the presence of the global.mdb file in
the given folder and for the presence of the old application executable in
its given folder.
2) Performs a backup of all existing program and data files to
subfolders called backup_prior_n, where n is the original version
number.
3) Removes all ChequeScribe named files from the application folder.
The name ChequeScribe will be replaced with TROY Checkwriting
Software.
4) Copies and unconditionally overwrites all program files from the
install set’s \Program subfolder.
5) Copies and overwrites all data files by date comparison from the
install set’s \Data subfolder.
6) Re-registers any new importx.ocx files in the application folder.
7) Re-registers any new CRAXDRT.dll files in the application folder.
8) Performs silent database upgrades to the local.mdb, global.mdb, and
archive.mdb as necessary by comparing version information in the
Version tables of each database.
9) Records all database change events in the DBU.LOG file, located in
the application’s data folder.
10) Replaces all Crystal Reports of same name in the application’s
global.mdb database file.
11) Removes all desktop and program group shortcuts named
ChequeScribe 32 and re-creates new shortcuts with the product
name TROY Checkwriting Software.
