MUHAMMAD ZAMIR, AMBASSADOR (RTD.) Chief Information Commissioner, Bangladesh Muhammad Zamir is a former career diplomat who has worked as Ambassador in various countries in Europe and also as Permanent Representative to the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific, FAO, World Food Programme, International Fund for Agricultural Development, European Communities and also as Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Educated in Dhaka where he specialized in literature and law, he also studied Arabic and International Relations at the British Middle-East Centre for Arabic Studies in Shemlan, Lebanon, International Humanitarian Law in Geneva, Switzerland and Peace and Conflict Studies in Uppsala, Sweden. During his association with diplomacy for nearly thirty four years, he served in diplomatic assignments in Beirut, Cairo, Tehran, Tripoli, Ottawa, Bangkok, London, Jeddah, Rome and Brussels. He is presently working as Chief Information Commissioner, Information Commission, Bangladesh. He is also associated with civil society and is currently Chairman, Bangladesh Renewable Energy Society, President, Bangladesh Folklore Research Center, Vice President, Bangladesh Water Partnership, Vice President, Center for Democracy, Regional Advisor for South Asia on RTI and Member, South Asia Media Commission. He has published 14 books on issues related to international affairs, Bangladesh issues, international law and governance. He has also published two books of poetry.
