A new definition of efficiency in pallet storage: DCS, the Dambach Compact Shuttle system for rail-guided stacker cranes Fast, flexible, foolproof: DCS, the Dambach Compact Shuttle system for optimising multi-deep pallet storage DCS, the new Dambach Compact n Shuttle system for high-bay ware- Compact Shuttle: pallet shuttle houses, introduces an unprecedent- with energy stored in power caps ed efficiency into pallet storage and n retrieval thanks to its compact design n and flexible operation. It can there- fore increase productivity in any n modern high-bay warehouse. movements The DCS can deliver: the new pallet shuttle Fully charged in 12 seconds: energy stored in power caps Speed is the real bonus: powerful 400 V motors Efficient and economic use of high-bay warehouses has always been a priority for Dambach. And used in conjunction with rail-guided stacker cranes, the new Dambach Compact Shuttle enables users to achieve really compact, multi-deep pallet storage. To do this, the storage lanes are fitted with rails on which the shuttles can run. Shuttle and rail-guided stacker crane therefore form one logistical unit: the shuttle runs on the rails to the allotted storage position where it either sets down or picks up a pallet, and the rail-guided stacker crane transports the shuttle to the correct storage or retrieval point in the warehouse. Unique among pallet shuttles: instead of conventional batteries, the DCS draws its energy from high-performance capacitors. The power caps are recharged while the shuttle is being transported by the rail-guided stacker crane. And charging takes only 12 seconds! That means uninterrupted 24-hour operation – no downtimes while the batteries are being recharged or replaced. And the power caps have other advantages: Low energy losses Long service life More than 1 million charging cycles Nobody likes to wait too long for a load – rail-guided stacker cranes included. The Dambach Compact Shuttle is therefore equipped with especially powerful 400 V three-phase motors with a high power density and compact design. These motors handle both the travelling and the raising/ lowering movements. A robust frequency converter controls the motors. As with a four-wheel drive vehicle, all the wheels are driven directly – and with the DCS that means not four, but eight wheels. They ensure reliable traction even when the running surface is not perfectly level, e.g. when transferring to the rail-guided stacker crane. n n n Exclusive to the Dambach n Rated loads up to 1,500 kg n Positioning via rotary encoders plus sensors Recharging time: just 12 seconds n 47 mm vertical travel Wireless communication with n Powerful 400 V three-phase motors the rail-guided stacker crane n All eight running wheels driven n Longitudinal and transverse On-board control for all pallet handling Powerful performance: the power and robust construction of the Dambach Compact Shuttle are obvious. The remarkably compact 400 V three-phase motors are the starting point for the high power density. 1 The Dambach Compact Shuttle in its element: as the fast and reliable extension arm of the rail-guided stacker crane Shouldering the load: the DCS can handle up to 1,500 kg Rail-guided stacker crane + DCS + load at front end of storage lane, The powerful motor and the power caps as the energy source give the Dambach Compact Shuttle a loading capacity far in excess of that of similar shuttles. Up to 1,500 kg can be quickly and reliably transferred and transported. And the DCS also sets the pace in terms of raising/ lowering speed: it only needs two seconds for loading or unloading! one lane space is occupied 2 DCS transfers to lane 3 DCS stops in front of stored pallet and sets down new pallet 4 DCS returns empty to waiting rail-guided stacker crane 5 Rail-guided stacker crane + DCS awaiting next command The generous vertical travel of 47 mm and the special design of the pallet platform with its uninterrupted surface are real advantages: the DCS handles pallets longitudinally and transversely without double-handling. Secure in any direction: the DCS can load and unload pallets in the longitudinal and transverse directions. All eight wheels are driven and that means reliable, full traction in every situation, e.g. when transferring to the rail-guided stacker crane. Safety first: permanent monitoring by the control Getting to the point: exact positioning The DCS and the rail-guided stacker crane understand each other perfectly: communication between the two takes place via a point-to-point radio link. This link monitors itself permanently for maximum communication reliability, e.g. for emergency stop signals if it comes to the worst. When it comes to positioning, the DCS plays it really safe. Rotary encoders in the drive wheels are responsible for the rough positioning. Special detectors in the storage lanes, e.g. photoelectric sensors, handle the final positioning. The shuttle can therefore check its own position continuously. And that guarantees a constant spacing between the pallets in the storage lane at all times. All the movements of the shuttle are managed by its on-board control system. That results in several advantages: The control in the rail-guided stacker crane is relieved The shuttle knows where it is and what it has to do at all times, and does not need to be constantly controlled Several shuttles can be assigned to one rail-guided stacker crane n n n Several Dambach Compact Shuttle systems ensure fast and flexible materials-handling At a glance: the technical data n n n n n n Shuttle weight: only 200 kg Rated load: up to 1,500 kg Loads carried on pallets Speed, empty: 100 m/min Speed, fully loaded: 70 m/min Raising/lowering time: 2 s Dimensions: height: 167 mm length: 1,220 mm width: 890 mm vertical travel: 47 mm DAMBACH Lagersysteme GmbH & Co.
