Play an Instrument or Sing?
There is a group for all young musicians in the
Dudley Music Hub
For beginners and those at the start of their musical journey….
Up Beat groups are for woodwind, brass and string players with some spaces for drummers. Up Beat
rehearsals take place at Earls (Halesowen), Gig Mill (Stourbridge) and High Arcal (Sedgley).
Groups for keyboard, guitar players and percussionists take place on Mondays in Netherton
(Saltwells EDC – Electric Guitars and keyboards), Tuesdays at Gigmill in Stourbridge for acoustic
guitars and Saturdays for percussionists at the Music Centre in Wordsley
Singers can join VTime, a group for primary school children who want to take singing to a higher
level. They meet on Wednesdays at Saltwells E.D.C.
You can join a beginner group as long as you have an instrument (or want to sing) and there is no
entry requirement – just turn up! (Beginner groups are free to join)
For those who have been playing a little longer
There are groups for all musicians who have been playing for a few years and have started to
develop their music skills. Intermediate Brass, Woodwind, keyboard and Electric Guitar groups
rehearse at Saltwells (Netherton) on Mondays and String groups rehearse on Wednesdays.
These groups are for musicians who are Grade 2/3 standard but don’t worry if you haven’t taken an
exam, just ask your teacher or go along and find out. These groups are free to join.
For developing musicians
Groups for the next level meet at Saltwells (Netherton). Monday evenings (Brass, Woodwind, Guitar
and Keyboards) and Wednesday evening for String groups and Dudley Young Voices (Secondary
school aged Choir). There is also a group on Saturdays for developing percussionists at the Music
Centre in Wordsley, Lawnswood Rd.
There is a small charge to join these groups and the entry level ranges from grade 4/5 standard
depending on which instrument you play.
For the most advanced young musicians
Groups for advanced musicians (grades 5/6 upwards depending on instrument) rehearse on
Mondays and Wednesdays at Saltwells in Netherton. Contact DPA for further information if you would
like to join one of these groups.
