MEP:NS Concerto Competition 2016 The 2016-17 Concerto Competition is following the same format as last year, with a list a set pieces or categories of repertoire. To help you prepare for the Concerto Competition here is some information that may help. There are two competitive rounds to the competition and then the winning performers (maximum two) earn the opportunity to perform their chosen work in its entirety with either the NSCYM Sinfonia, Vivace or Concert Band as appropriate in a high profile concert. The competition is open to members of the NSCYM, Weston Youth Orchestra and Lions Brass for Youth. Step 1: Select the work you are going to prepare from the list below and start practising it! (If you are entering on percussion please discuss your proposed choice with the likely conductor to ensure it will work with the ensemble before you spend too long working on it). Click here to open the online application form Round 1: Everyone is asked to perform one movement of their chosen work unaccompanied. Round 2: Those participants who were successful in the first Round are invited to play two movements of their chosen work; this time with piano accompaniment. Players can provide their own accompanist or the Music Service can supply one. The panel for this round will include an external judge. This will take place week commencing 9th January 2017.
