WINTER REVIVAL SUNDAY, JANUARY 29—WEDNESDAY

JUST AS I AM … Shana Herndon
NEW STAFF
We welcome Sean McElrath to our staff as full-time
Associate Pastor of Education and Students. He is from the
Gaffney area and has served as a NAMB Missionary in Surry,
Maine this past year. He has a degree in Sociology from
Limestone College and is working toward his M.Div. in
Missiology from Southern Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky.
Sean and his wife Stacy have two girls, Madelyn and Sara.
God has some great things in store for this church and this
community. Make Sean feel welcome and pray for him in this
transition.
Press On, J. Todd Horton
We would like to thank
you for the cards, calls,
and food items you have
blessed us with.
My family and I are greatly
appreciative to everyone
who has welcomed us.

Romans 6:1-4 … What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? 2 By
no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? 3 Or don’t you know
that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? 4 We were therefore
buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the
dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.
2017. Whenever the new year starts, it is frequently a time for us to think about new life. New year.
New you. New finances. New diet. New exercise regime. New career goals. However, I would like to
think about the opposite. Old life/death. With the new year, it’s time to put some things in our life to
death. It’s time to bury the old ways of sin. It’s time to cremate the deliberate disobedience of our
wills. It’s time to annihilate “IT”. Let us move forward in 2017 with the death of our will, our ways, and
live in His will and His ways!

A Note of Thanks:
Thanks to those who were
able to go Christmas
caroling to shut-ins and
homebound!
I want to thank each of you who had a part
in the Christmas cantata this year. What a
blessing it was to me to be a part of a group
with a common goal – to reach others for
Christ. It is my prayer that the choices you
make this year will reflect God’s presence in
your life.
As I prepare for a New Year, I think back on
all the blessings God has given me this past
year: new additions to our family – a wonderful
son-in law and four beautiful grandchildren, a
Christ-Centered church family, a talented and
dedicated choir family and so many other
things. I look forward to what God has in store
for me in the year to come. May He be glorified
in all that I do.
In His Service, Nancy Huggins
