Background The Wabash County Health Department (WCHD) is Certified by the Illinois State Department of Public Health, accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) and is located in Mt. Carmel, IL. The agency has a long and distinguished history of providing vital effective and efficient quality health services to residents of Wabash County and the surrounding area. WCHD currently receives 13 grants with the Illinois Departments of Public Health and Human Services. The agency provides a vast array of programs and services including: Family Case Management; Women, Infant and Child Nutrition Education and Supplemental Food Program; Illinois Smoke-­‐Free Communities; Breastfeeding Peer Counselors; Lactation Consultants; Family Planning; Immunizations; TB skin testing; Infectious disease follow-­‐up; Lead screening; STD testing; Chronic Disease screening/monitoring; Low-­‐cost laboratory services (with physician’s order); Foot Care clinics; Restaurant Inspections; Potable Water Supply testing; Private Sewage permits/inspections; Breast Cancer Education; All Our Kids (AOK) Early Intervention Program/Network; Emergency Preparedness Planning; Outpatient Behavioral Health Counseling services; 24/7 Crisis Assessment and Referral; Driving under the Influence Evaluations, Risk Education Classes and Substance Abuse Treatment. Essential Duties The Administrator is responsible for the successful operation of the department and oversees all agency business including fiscal, personnel, and health care services. This position requires excellent leadership, communication skills, knowledge of finance and budgeting, computer skills, ability to manage a professional staff and the ability to work independently. The Administrator collaborates with community agencies, the Board of Health and the Wabash County Board of Commissioners to benefit the residents of Wabash County. Wabash County Health Department has a staff of 24 full and part-­‐time employees. The Administrator reports to the Wabash County Board of Health. The starting salary is commensurate with qualifications and excellent benefits are provided. Minimum Qualifications The successful candidate will meet at least one of the following Education and Experience requirements: 1) Master’s Degrees in public health from an accredited College or University and two years of full-­‐time administrative experience in public health 2) A graduate degree in a related field from an accredited College or University which may include but is not limited to a Master’s Degree in public administration, nursing, environmental health, community health, health education, and two years of full-­‐time administrative experience in public health 3) A Bachelor’s degree from a college or university accredited by the North Central Association or other regional, nationally-­‐recognized accrediting agency, and four years of full-­‐time administrative experience, of which at least two years must be in public health.
