NWTRCC is a coalition of local,
regional, and national groups
supportive of war tax resistance. It grew out of a
National Action Conference in September 1982 called
by the War Resisters League and the Center on Law
and Pacifism. War tax resistance, which had been highly
visible during Vietnam War protests, was growing again
with the election of Ronald Reagan and an increasing
mood of militarism in the country. A network was
needed to share information, coordinate actions, and
develop resources for war tax resisters.
Today NWTRCC is supported by more than 45
national and local affiliate organizations along with a
nationwide network of individual counselors and
activists. NWTRCC participates in the U.S. peace
movement as a member of United for Peace and Justice
and in the international network of war tax resisters
and peace tax campaigns.

Heartland Peace Tax Fund
The Heartland Peace Tax Group grew out of the Newton
(Kansas) Area Peace Center (now Peace Connections) in the
early 1990s. Members are from South Central Kansas. The
group affiliated with NWTRCC and has sent someone to
meetings since 1994. Most members are pacifist Mennonites
who support peace tax legislation efforts and oppose paying
taxes for war. The group has established the Heartland Peace
Tax Fund and is active in promoting Conscientious Objection
to Military Taxation and lamenting the cost of war to our
world, nation, and community. The Heartland group meets
around six times a year on Saturday mornings for breakfast,
business, and blessing each other as members try to live their
lives consistent with the faith and ethics they claim.
FULL TRAVEL AND HOUSING DETAILS WILL BE SENT AFTER YOU REGISTER.
