President`s Corner 1st Golf Event of 2013 Sequim Trip Announcement

CELEBRATING 20 YEARS OF SINGLES GOLF IN AMERICA
Seattle Chapter - American Singles Golf Association — February 2013
President’s Corner
Spring is just around the corner so I'm
into yoga and strength training to get ready
for the golf season and hope you are preparing too. Have to avoid injuries so we
aren't side lined when the sun does come
out. We have golf events already planned
for February 24th at Legion and Dungeness March 23rd and Pt. Ludlow March 24th
so sure hope you can participate. Those
are always fun courses to play no matter
what the weather. The annual audit is
completed. Kudos to Karen Kohler for
doing such a great job with the financial
records. All the committee chairs are working diligently to ensure we have a successful year. A big thank you for all their efforts.
Our next meeting is Tuesday, February
12th. We will have a dessert auction fund
raiser to help assist with the annual Christmas party, so bring your appetites and
checkbook. Hope to see you there.

SASGA CUP
(Seattle Amercian Singles Golf
Association)
We have our own Ryder Cup, Apple
Cup and Orange Ball events. Now we also
have the SASGA Cup. The SASGA Cup is
patterned after the PGA's FedEx Cup except points for participation as well as
competition are earned. It is limited to
members only of the Seattle ASGA. The
prize is a nice trophy with your name engraved on it which will rotate to the next
winner each year, bragging rights and paid
green fees for a SASGA golf event of your
choice in the golf season following the
year you win.
This is a competition whereby points are
primarily given for participation but also for
being a member of a team that wins or
places and for winning individual contests
such as closest to the pin. You get SASGA
points for your participation in any ASGA
golf event whether it is ours, another chapter's or a national event as well as attendance at monthly member meetings and
other social events.
Points are awarded as follows:
 Attendance at member meetings and
other social events
5 points
 Attend scheduled SASGA golf tournaments (regular 18 hole weekend events
or Nine and Dines)
5 points
 Host and cohost a scheduled SASGA
golf tournament or social event
10 points
 Attend Ryder Cup, Apple Cup or Orange
Ball golf events
3 points
 1st Place in competitions
4 points
 2nd Place in competitons
2 points
 Hole-in-one
15 points
We will keep a running tab of the point
count and will publish it in the newsletter
periodically. The contest will start February 1st and conclude November 30th. The
SASGA Cup will be awarded in December
at our annual Holiday Party.

nated a tournament, easy step-by-step
written guideline are available by email.
We encourage a coordinator and an assistant for each event. If you‟ve sponsored a
tournament in the past, ask someone to
help you who has not had the experience.
Get involved, make new friends, have
more fun. Golf weather is just around the
corner (maybe).
On July 5, 1995, in Tampa Bay, Florida, while answering questions following
a speech, a reporter brought up the 26
year old question about Mr. Gorsky to
Armstrong. This time he finally responded, because Mr. Gorsky had died,
so Neil Armstrong felt he could now answer the question.
Here is the answer to “Who was Mr.
Gorsky?” In 1938 when he was a kid in a
small mid-western town, Neil was playing
baseball with a friend in the backyard.
His friend hit the ball, which landed in
Neil‟s neighbor‟s yard by their bedroom
window. His neighbors were Mr. and
Mrs. Gorsky. As he leaned down to pick
up the ball, young Armstrong heard Mrs.
Gorsky shouting at Mr. Gorsky. “Sex!
You want sex?! You‟ll get sex when the
kid next door walks on the moon!”
Sorell Fischer, Golf Chair
Out Of This World Humor
On July 20, 1969, as Commander of the
Apollo 11 Lunar Module, Neil Armstrong
was the first person to step on the moon.
His first words after stepping on the moon,
“That‟s one small step for man. One giant
leap for mankind.” Were televised to earth
and heard by millions. But just before he
reentered the Lander, he made the enigmatic remark, “Good luck, Mr. Gorsky.”
Many people at NASA thought it was a
casual remark concerning some rival Soviet cosmonaut. However, upon checking,
there was no Gorsky in either the Russian
or American space programs. Over the
years, many people questioned Armstrong
as to what the „Good luck, Mr. Gorsky‟
statement meant, but Armstrong always
just smiled.
~Contributed by George Weller
Editor‟s note: This story has been shown
to be false, although some believe it is
true, but it is a humorous tribute to Neil
Armstrong, who passed away on August
25, 2012, and was the first person to
walk on the moon.
