Prominent Arab Americans Call for Ceasefire Run Ad in Washington

In the Spirit of Humanity
Call for a Ceasefire
We raise our voices in sadness and horror at the bloodshed and
devastation in the Middle East.
We are Americans who call upon all those in power to stop the violence
and care for the wounded, the traumatized, the dispossessed.
A ceasefire is imperative so that reconstruction and reconciliation can
begin and political solutions can be found.
We reclaim our American values of justice and mercy and compassion,
values that abhor oppression and racism. American leadership in the
political and humanitarian challenges ahead is a sacred duty.
We mourn the loss of every human life and the fear gripping families
about their safety, their lives and their future.
We recall the words of Lebanese-born poet Kahlil Gibran:
“The spirit deems the power
of wisdom and justice
above ignorance and tyranny.”
We reclaim this Spirit of Humanity.
