Vernal Equinox - It`s Time for Spring

Vernal Equinox - It’s Time for Spring
On Monday, March 20, 2017, the day
and night will be of almost equal duration at most time zones in the
world. This is the March Equinox and
is also known as the Vernal (spring)

wards the Sun, but is rather perpendicular to the Sun's rays.
The March equinox has long been
celebrated as a time of rebirth in the
Northern Hemisphere. Many cultures celebrate spring festivals and
holidays around the March Equinox,
such as Easter and Passover.
Astronomers and scientists use the

which ends on the June Solstice,

Sunday, March 12th is the Daylight Savings Time switch. While
we don’t have to bother with resetting clocks here in Arizona, it
does affect our interaction with the rest of the country. Once
Daylight Savings Time starts, we will be on the same time zone
as California and Nevada. We will be 1 hour behind states on
Mountain Time, 2 hours behind states on Central Time and
3 hours behind states on Eastern Time.

Use Your Spare Time to Check Your Tires
According to a national survey conducted
by the Rubber Manufacturers Association,
only 17 percent of drivers are considered
“tire smart” and know the correct way to
check their tire pressure.
6,000 miles to
promote uniform
tire wear and be
replaced if worn
or damaged.
“Underinflated tires are under stress and
will eventually wear unevenly, making
them a safety hazard, not to mention an
added expense since the worn out tires
will have to be replaced sooner,” said Rich
White, executive director, Car Care Council. “Properly inflated tires will not only
help keep you safe on the road, but will
improve gas mileage and performance.”
The penny test is
a popular and
simple way to
check tire tread.
If you see Lincoln’s head above the tread,
then it is time for new tires. In addition,
the tread should be checked for uneven or irregular wear as well as cuts or
bruises along sidewalls.
The Car Care Council recommends that vehicle owners check the pressure of all
tires, including the spare, on a monthly
basis and more often during colder
weather. Tires should be inflated to recommended pressure levels, rotated every
“Tires are such an important safety issue
that you can’t take their condition
lightly,” continued White. “Routinely
checking tire balance and wheel alignment will reduce tire wear and improve
handling.”
March Full Moon - Full Worm Moon
As the temperature begins to warm and the ground begins to thaw, earthworm casts
appear, heralding the return of the robins. The more northern tribes knew this Moon
as the Full Crow Moon, when the cawing of crows signaled the end of winter; or the
Full Crust Moon, because the snow cover becomes crusted from thawing by day and
freezing at night.
The Full Sap Moon, marking the time of tapping maple trees, is another variation. To
the settlers, it was also known as the Lenten Moon, and was considered to be the last
full Moon of winter (we can only hope). The March Full Moon will rise on March 12th.

Benefits to Having Your Morning Cup of Joe
Coffee Can Improve Your Life? Many people enjoy their daily cup (or more) of coffee. It can have benefits beyond helping people wake up in the morning, though.
The Tech Times website lists these positive attributes of moderate caffeine consumption:
✔Exercise: A study cited by the International Journal of Sport Nutrition and Exercise
Metabolism found that people who drank a caffeinated beverage before exercise
burned 15 percent more calories during their workout than those who took a placebo.
✔Eyesight: The chlorogenic acid in coffee contains a strong antioxidant that’s been
shown to prevent retinal degeneration in mice. Research suggests it might play a
role in helping humans prevent deteriorating vision and blindness.
✔Diabetes: A Harvard School of Public Health study found that people who drank
an extra cup of coffee a day over four years decreased their risk of a Type 2 diabetes
diagnosis by 11 percent.
“A bad attitude is like a flat tire. You can’t go anywhere until you change it.”
