OurPath announced winners at `Emerge` conference Mustard Seed

OurPath announced winners at ‘Emerge’ conference Mustard Seed competition, securing
further interest for their groundbreaking lifestyle improvement programme
This November saw the annual Emerge conference take place at Oxford University’s Said Business
School, where 8 socially conscious startups participated in a competitive competition ran by Mustard
Seed. OurPath were thrilled to be announced amongst a pair of winners at the conference for their
revolutionary 6-week lifestyle improvement programme.
The winners were selected for their ability to solve social or environmental issues through detailed
research and proven results. OurPath was selected for its potential to alleviate the cost on health care
providers and the NHS of the ever-growing diabetes crisis, by prevention through its unique system
that is proven to reduce users’ risk of developing the disease. OurPath’s solution is a cost effective and
scalable behavioural change programme, which incorporates education, technology and personal
health coaching in a way that no other system in the UK does for diabetes prevention.
Chris Edson, co-founder at OurPath, explains “After seeing the strain that diabetes puts on our
healthcare system first hand, we developed OurPath as a way to relieve the crippling problem that is
posing a huge drain on resources for the NHS. We are delighted to have won the Mustard Seed
investment at Emerge this year following inspiring pitches from a number of strong candidates.”
OurPath’s unique program has demonstrated improvements in wellbeing, energy levels, and an
average weight-loss of 5kgs across the 6-week online programme. OurPath’s three key elements - the
latest technology, comprehensive education and a dedicated support system - culminate in an entirely
unique system that is proven to help users feel healthier, happier and at reduced risk of developing
preventable health issues such as type 2 diabetes, heart disease and high blood pressure.

Notes to Editors:
More about OurPath…
OurPath was founded by Mike Gibbs and Chris Edson who had previously worked together as
healthcare strategy consultants for Monitor Deloitte, a global strategy consulting firm. Having
witnessed first hand the effects of type 2 diabetes on global healthcare economies, both Chris and
Mike quit their day jobs in 2014 to tackle the challenge, and OurPath was born.
The pair have secured support for their innovative system through a number of grants and accelerator
schemes including DigitalHealth.London and the FICHe (an EU-wide eHealth accelerator), which saw
OurPath identified as the highest rated EU eHealth startup in the diabetes prevention, health and wellbeing space.
Following years of detailed research, it became clear to Chris and Mike that digital behavioural change
was the ultimate solution for this problem, being both highly effective and scalable. OurPath’s
behavioural change programme has been designed to help people sustainably improve their lifestyle
using a unique combination of three key elements - the latest technology, comprehensive education
and a dedicated support system – which culminate in a system that has been shown to help users
reduce their risk of developing preventable health issues such as type 2 diabetes.
