My Approach
In this production, the magical world of Narnia is a slightly steampunk version of
Victorian England. The characters will not end up looking anything like these pictures
– they’re more of idea starters – but each character will have a very definite ‘look’.
The set will be quite ‘stark’ with foliage that
moves and changes to create individual
settings such as The Beavers House.
The forest creatures will have a slightly
‘organic’ appearance with the witch’s crew
being more metallic and spiky.
Almost all the roles can be played by males or
females of any age.
I’ve put the number of pages that character is on stage for – but please be aware
that they may not have lines on all those pages. There are crowd scenes and battles
where characters are present but don’t say anything.
The script gives you the words, the director gives you the
framework, YOU give the characters personality and bring the story
to life.
I’m really looking forward to seeing
what you come up with!

The Humans
Lucy
43 pages
Youngest of the human siblings, Lucy has the
biggest role. She’s the one that discovers Narnia
and she never loses her sense of wonder about
the magic it contains. Her adventurous spirit
inspires bravery in others – vital to the final
battle.
Edmund
33 pages
Lucy’s slightly older brother, Edmund is the
problem child. He is easily led into temptation
and it is his betrayal that sparks the ultimate
battle between good and evil. His experiences
on ‘the dark side’ inspire him to find his courage,
join the battle, and become King Edmund the
Just.
Susan
34 pages
As the eldest daughter of Eve, Susan is often
found to be mothering the others. Whilst gentle
and loving, she is also loyal and defiantly brave.
She isn’t afraid to take up her bow and arrow
and fight for those she loves.
Peter
29 pages
As the eldest of the siblings, Peter is cast in the
role of protector but he also a mediator and
peacemaker. He is the ultimate knight in shining
armour. He earns his place as High King of
Narnia at the pointy end of a sword.
The Forest Creatures

the power to end winter’s grip and defeat the
Witch.

imagination, the Unicorn survives in Narnia by
avoiding trouble. Given the choice of fight or
fight, the Unicorn will flee every time.
Centaur

Half human, half horse, the centaur is wise,
loyal and a powerful warrior. (S)he keeps the
faith that Aslan will return and the prophecy will

A bit of a know-it-all this elf has a big personality
and a mouth to match.
The Witch’s Crew
White Witch
15 pages
She puts a spell on Narnia so it is frozen winter
all the time but never Christmas. She terrorizes
the animals and when crossed she uses her
wand to turn creatures to stone. Devious and
uncaring, she’s everything wicked witch should
be.
Fenris Ulf
The big bad wolf – head of the secret police and
the queen’s assassin. Nasty and sly. He gets his
just rewards at the end of Peter’s sword.
AKA Maugrim

Dwarf
15 pages
The Dwarf is the White Witch’s loyal companion
and counselor, driving her sledge and
discussing options with her. He is afraid of
Aslan, whose name the Witch will not let him
say.
Witch’s Army
4 pages
Probably more inspired by fear than loyalty,
these are a nasty bunch of brutes and misfits.
There are few lines for a couple of people…
otherwise it’s all about the fight.
