Second Grade

What does 2nd grade mean for your kiddos?
Independence!! We have been working hard on
listening skills, appropriately asking for help when
needed, and respecting each other and each person’s
needs. We have actually come a long way in just these
3 weeks. What a great class that actually cares about
each other! 

All parents who are Assumption parishioners and want
their child to receive the Sacraments of First
Reconciliation and First Communion need to contact
Kathy Ernst at the Parish office: [email protected]
or 733-1380 ext. 23. The First Reconciliation meeting for
parents only is Sunday, September 25th at 11:40 in the
School.
Literacy We have been working on initial consonants in
words and making predictions when we read. We are
also working hard on perfecting strategies to use when
we come across words we don’t’ know when reading.
Gaining more and more independence is our goal.
Math This week we practiced writing numbers in
different ways and focused as well as to what place
value does for a 2-digit number.

Maestra Dolores. We’ve practiced ‘hola a todos’, ‘cuenten conmigo’, and ‘la semana’.
We’ve practiced counting all the way to 30 as well as saying and writing the date for today
and tomorrow. Students were reminded how to answer the question ‘Como te llamas?’ and
‘Como estas?’ We will also be reviewing how to following directions in Spanish for the

identifying health related fitness components. 4. A person of integrity who consistently: A.
accepts responsibility for personal behavior It is Cholesterol Awareness month. We are
continuing to play cholesterol tag to mimic a blocked artery. Cholesterol is an important fat
for good health. It forms part of the cell wall of every cell, it is used to insulate nerve fiber,
thus our nerve signals travel properly. Too much cholesterol in the blood increases the risk of
coronary heart and diseases of arteries in the body. EAT well and PLAY often! 3. An effective
