COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH COURSES
As a sixth form college student you will need to supply your own pens, paper and other
stationery plus memory sticks and any other equipment, materials or textbooks required for
your chosen courses. Barton Peveril is no different from any other college in needing to
charge for these items and we keep our shop well stocked with supplies at low prices.
A guide to minimum, unavoidable costs appears below. The College makes increasing use
of online resources but some courses require specialist workbooks, revision guides and
textbooks. Most departments also run trips, some of which are listed. Though optional, these
are highly desirable experiences with costs kept as low as possible.
Please note that the College is unable to loan SLR or video cameras, musical instruments or
other equipment on a long-term basis. Advice on the best equipment to purchase or details
of arrangements for individual music tuition can be sought from the relevant subject
staff. Contact details appear on the course information sheets.
Exams
Barton Peveril pays first time exam fees in full. Students who choose to re-sit must meet the
cost themselves.
CRB checks
Health and Social Care, Sport and some other courses and work experience/volunteering
placements require Criminal Record Bureau (CRB) checks for students working with children
or vulnerable adults.
Printing and copying
As a Barton Peveril student you will have a print credit account for printing and photocopying
which can be topped up as required. Charges start at 2p for a single side A4 sheet (mono).
Payment
The College requires all costs to be paid in advance and offers phased payment
programmes for current students and those who have accepted a place but not yet
enrolled. If you wish to take advantage of this facility prior to enrolment please contact the
College for a link code enabling access to the payment system.
