Psalm 146:7-8
Who executes justice for the oppressed, Who gives food to the hungry. The LORD gives
freedom to the prisoners. The LORD opens the eyes of the blind; The LORD raises those who
are bowed down; The LORD loves the righteous.
How does God do all those things mentioned in the verses above? For the most part, He does it
through people like you and I. Through people who love Him and want to serve him. He uses
people to watch out for the interests of the oppressed, the elderly and the mentally and physically
disadvantaged. He uses people like you and I to provide for the needs of the poor who might be
hungry. God used my nephew, Spec 4 Clarence Allen Cash, to help free the people of Kuwait
who were being held prisoner by the ruthless Iraqi regime. My nephew paid with his life. It was
because of him however that God opened not only my eyes but the eyes of many others who then
went on and accepted Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior. If we are willing God will
use us to accomplish those things specified in Psalm 146 verses 7 and 8. Could it cause personal
hardship and distress? Yes, it certainly could and knowing a little bit about how Satan operates,
it most likely will. Just remember that Satan will try to defeat you before the battle even
starts. For once it has started, he knows he will be a defeated foe. So lets keep our focus on
Christ before, during, and after the battle. Lets also look at the example set by people like my
nephew, who paid the ultimate sacrifice for doing what they knew in their heart was the right
thing to do. My nephew paid with his life for allowing God to use him to help free the
prisoners. May God bless my nephew's family and may God bless all those who are willing to
answer freedom's call.
Freedom’s Call
After these many lonely years,
My memories of you still live.
You gave your life for a noble cause,
What more could any man give.
Tonight your star burns brightly,
And beckons the mighty and the small.
To summons the courage and the strength,
To boldly answer freedom’s call.
The way you lived and the way you died,
Provides a source of inspiration and light.
Your sacrifice righted a grave injustice,
Wrought by the cowards of the night.
May your star burn through eternity,
And serve to inspire us on.
We will not rest or drop our guard,
Till every foe of freedom is gone.
