February 2014 Newsletter - Westerville Area Resource Ministry

February
2014
"Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that
all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along
well. I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are
walking in the truth." 3 John 1:2,4
Each year, January ushers in the promise of renewal,
characterized by a refreshed outlook on life and an unabashed
optimism for the future. Our hopes soar as we dream of an
idyllic year full of health, opportunity and prosperity. If,
instead, our focus could shift away from our own situation and
towards those of our neighbors, true love, prosperity and
renewal will be found.
This year, may you enjoy increased health of your body and
soul, but may you also grow to share in the joy that can only be
found in the selfless service of others. The joy found in uplifting
another offers a peace that the world cannot give.
The WARM Board and Staff wish you a year full of holistic
health, overflowing joy and true peace!
The WARM Spot
Employee matching programs go a long way
in providing much-needed resources for organizations like
WARM. Take Hewlett Packard's Employee Product Giving
Program, for example.
Through this matching gift program, HP encourages
employees to support area nonprofits with much-needed
technology. It goes like this: Employees donate 25% of the
price of the product, HP gives the remaining funds and
WARM receives a couple of needed and new-to-us laptops!
Knights of Columbus Chapter 5776 held their annual Breakfast
with Santa event at St. Paul Catholic Church on December 7th.
11,736 meals were provided for those in need in Westerville.
"I just wanted to say 'thank
you' for all the many
blessings you have provided
my family these past few
months. The support we
have received at WARM is
truly amazing.
With help on resumes, my fiance was able to get a
job close to home with convenient hours for our
schedule. This is a great blessing to us and we truly
appreciate it! We are also appreciative of the food
pantry, as it has helped us get by and the food
selection is always great!"

According to their website, this HP program is responsible for
the donation of $25 million worth of technology since 2007.
"Our employees' generosity inspires us, and we
support
their
giving with popular matching programs,"
HP's website proclaims. Thank you to
faithful
supporters
and
generous
companies for utilizing these programs for
the betterment of area communities!

Gifts that Lift
Gift (noun)
: a notable capacity, talent, or endowment.
: something voluntarily transferred by one
person to another without compensation.
: the act, right, or power of giving.
Merriam-Webster knows
best! In the purest,
dictionary definition of the
word, a 'gift' is powerful.
The impact of gifts of
health, wealth or wellbeing are both immediate
and lasting. The 'power of
giving'
lies
in
the
transformation that occurs
in the hearts of all involved
in the interaction.
Just some of the more than 51,000 pounds
of food and supplies donated by our
neighbors and collected by the Westerville
Rotary Clubs during their annual
Holiday Food Drive in December.
In 2014, let's challenge ourselves to give the gifts that will
encourage our neighbors to be healthy, our community to be
thriving and our hearts to be satisfied!
