The 19th Amendment to the Constitution
Roundtable Discussion

The International Centre for Ethnic Studies (ICES), in partnership with the Centre for
Policy Alternatives (CPA), the Law & Society Trust (LST), the National Peace Council
(NPC), and Transparency International Sri Lanka (TISL), will hold a roundtable
discussion on the proposed 19th Amendment to the Constitution of Sri Lanka. The
discussion will take place on the 8th April 2015 at 4 p.m. at the ICES Auditorium, 2
Kynsey Terrace, Colombo 8.
The objective of the roundtable is to discuss the far reaching implications of the
19th Amendment, and to explore options for strengthening democracy, the rule of law
and constitutional government in Sri Lanka.
The discussion will be led by Paikiasothy Saravanamuttu (CPA), Jehan Perera (NPC)
and Dinesha Samararatne, (Lecturer, University of Colombo), who will analyze the
proposed 19th Amendment.
The discussion will be moderated by Dhara Wijayatilake, Attorney-at-Law.
