ANZCA Queensland Regional Office will
conduct two Primary Lecture Programs
assist Introductory and Basic Trainees to
cover the breadth of knowledge required
to sit the ANZCA Primary Examination.
Each program has been designed to
enable trainees to start the course in
either Program 1 or 2 and continue for a
6—12 month period.
The programs provide a good opportunity
for assessment of the level of your
knowledge and skills.
In preparing for the Primary Exam, it is
recommended to undertake the Primary
Lecture Programs and then move on to the
Primary Exam Preparation Course as you
approach the Primary Exam.
Each day will consist of lectures and
includes fully catered morning tea, lunch,
& beverages.

Primary Lecture Program 2
The lecture program is structured to cover as
many topics collected from Appendix 3 of the
ANZCA Training Program Learning Outcomes
mapped to the Initial Assessment of Anaesthetic
Competence Questions (IAACQ). (short answer
questions theory, respiratory pharmacology & therapeutic
gasses, inhalational anaesthetic agents, foetal & neonatal
physiology, pharmacokinetics, blood & coagulation, antiarrhythmic agents, respiratory physiology, physiology &
pharmacology of pain, opioid & non-opioid analgesics, opioid
antagonists, antibiotics, airway management, maternal
physiology & pharmacology, renal physiology, cellular
physiology, physics & principles of clinical measurement,
endocrine physiology, fluids & electrolytes, thermoregulation,
pharmacodynamics, neuro-physiology, pharmacological
basis of poisoning/IV induction agents, anticoagulants &
anti-platelet agents, autonomic physiology & pharmacology,
anatomy, neuro-muscular blocking agents, acid base
physiology, local anaesthesia, cardiovascular physiology &
anatomy, equipment & safety).
Presenters volunteer their time and actively
work to assist course candidates.
