How Will This
Winter Compare
to Last Year’s
Record Breaker?
With days getting shorter and temperatures dropping
steadily, that’s the question on everyone’s mind.
At Northboro Oil, we’re ready to meet your
heating needs no matter how low the mercury
dips or how high snow piles outside (and atop)
your home, but we’re as curious as anyone to figure
out what the weather will be like this winter. So, we did
a little bit of research. We’re not meteorologists, but
here’s what we found:
•The National Weather Service says there is an equal
chance that temperatures in our region will be above
average, below average, or normal this winter.
•WCVB-TV meteorologist Harvey Leonard told The
Boston Globe that “we are likely to have a very
significant El Niño, which usually means a winter
that is not too cold, but possibly stormy...”
•And, for what it’s worth, the Farmers’ Almanac says,
“the winter of 2015-2016 is looking like a repeat of
last winter, at least in terms of temperatures with
unseasonably cold conditions over the Atlantic
Seaboard,” and “a good amount of snow.”
With these contrasting forecasts, it’s hard to know
what to expect, but at least two things are certain:
1) After last winter, most New Englanders aren’t taking
any chances with this year’s weather; and 2) Northboro
Oil is here to meet all your heating needs this fall
and winter. With annual tune-ups, 24/7 emergency
service, and cost-saving service contracts, we’re able
to help you prepare your home for any kind
of winter and to give you as much peace of
mind as possible. You might never know what to
expect from Mother Nature, but
as a Northboro Oil customer,
you can always expect the
responsive, high-quality
service you deserve from
your home heating
company.

Protect Your
Your Property
Property with
with
TANK-GUARD
®
®
One of Oilheat’s greatest benefits is independent storage.
As an Oilheat customer, your home’s heating fuel is safely and
securely stored on your property, so that you have the power
to access it directly and immediately when you need it most.
However, with great power comes great responsibility.
Though rare, tank leaks do sometimes occur, especially in
older rusted models, and when they do, they can be costly.
A tank replacement can easily cost you $2,000 or more.
To prevent rusting, once per year Northboro Oil treats all of
our customers’ tanks with the TANK-GUARD corrosion
inhibitor. This treatment provides basic protection against the
kind of corrosion that puts countless tanks out of commission
each year.
If, however, your tank is an older model, we suggest you ask
us about TANK-GUARD warranty coverage. The warranty
costs just $47.95 per year, or less than $5 a month, which can
be factored into your monthly Budget Plan payments. With
this warranty, if you ever experience a tank leak, you will
receive a free replacement tank installation.
While TANK-GUARD doesn’t protect your storage tank
against weather damage, it does protect your tank against
normal wear and tear and the rusting that occurs over time,
and these are the most common threats to any oil tank.
So don’t leave yours unprotected for another season.
Call Northboro Oil at 508-393-6200 to sign up for the
TANK-GUARD warranty today.
Upgrade Your Equipment,
Downgrade Your Bill
How would you grade your heating equipment?
If it’s more than 10 years old or if its AFUE (annual
fuel utilization efficiency) is anywhere below
85%, then it might be time to upgrade. The good
news is this: replacing your old, outdated heating
equipment is one of the most sure-fire ways to
reduce your energy expenses. In fact, upgrading
to an ENERGY STAR®-rated heating system
can cut costs by as much as 40%.
Last year’s incredibly harsh winter pushed most
New Englanders’ home heating systems to the
limit, and no one knows for sure what the winter
of 2015-2016 has in store for our region. With
that in mind, now is no time to gamble. Instead,
make the sure bet – increase your comfort
and reduce your expenses with an equipment
upgrade. Now for some more good news: thanks
to the Mass Save HEAT Loan Program, it’s easier
than ever to upgrade your equipment without
breaking the bank.
Those who qualify for the Mass Save HEAT Loan Program get:
• Financing for up to $25,000 • 0% interest rate • Financing term up to 7 years
• Access to energy efficiency rebates and tax credits
It doesn’t take a genius to see that high-efficiency, high-performance heating is a smart
investment, as it pays for itself over time and adds value to any home. However, it does
take a licensed expert to ensure you get optimum comfort and efficiency from your new heating system.
For help finding the heating equipment upgrade that’s right for your home and the financing that’s right for your budget,
call Northboro Oil at 508-393-6200.
Fall Conservation Tips

Low-Sulfur Heating Oil is Here
Here’s a fun fact you might not have known about the fuel heating your home: as of July 15, 2014, all of the heating oil sold by
Northboro Oil is low-sulfur heating oil, meaning it contains a maximum of 500 parts-per-million (ppm) sulfur.
This drastic reduction over the previous limit of 3,000 ppm is a huge step in the right direction, as low-sulfur heating oil as been
proven to lower maintenance, improve efficiency and reduce emissions from heating systems. In other words, today’s
heating oil is better for both the environment and your heating equipment.
Northboro Oil prides itself in being an environmentally responsible, yet economically practical, home comfort provider,
so we look forward to providing heating oil with an even lower sulfur content (15 ppm) by July 15, 2018.
If you’d like to know how you can do your part to reduce your home’s environmental footprint, please read our “Fall Conservation
Tips” on page 3 and talk to the experts at Northboro Oil about how a heating system upgrade or wireless thermostat can push you
further on the path toward personal energy independence.
