Fun Facts about origin of package names
Fightin’ Texas Aggie Fajitas
A&M is known all over the nation as the Fightin’ Texas Aggies.
The story is told that when Lawrence Sullivan Ross became
President of the Agricultural and Mechanical College, it was
under the threat of being shut down. Luckily, Governor Ross
would not have this and he went down to the Legislature and
fought to keep his school open. He got so angry that he
punched a senator over the issue. Afterwards, we were known
as the “Fightin’ Farmers” and now the “Fightin’ Texas Aggies.”
The Wrecking Que (Crew)
The term Wrecking Crew is a name given to defenses of the
football team. The term, coined by defensive back Chet Brooks,
became popular during Coach R.C. Slocum’s tenure.
The Wing (Ring) Dunk
For decades, an unofficial tradition among students involves
"dunking" the newly acquired Aggie Ring. The ring is dropped in
a pitcher of beer and the student chugs the entire pitcher in a
"Class Set" (for example, the Fighting Texas Aggie Class of 2011 will
have 111 seconds to "dunk" the ring) and catches the ring in his
or her teeth. Some students choose to dunk their rings in alternative
substances, including ice cream ornonalcoholic beverages.

Spirit of Aggieland Sliders
The alma mater of Texas A&M was written by then-student Marvin H.
Mimms. Aggies sing the song at sporting and other events, as they
reflect on the “spirit can ne’er be told,” that unites us.
Bonfire Stack Nacho Bar
The first Aggie Bonfire began in the early 1900's as a pile of wood
and trash next to the train station. The cadets decided to make a
Bonfire to congratulate the football team on their win. Although
this first Bonfire was held in the early morning hours of November 18,
1907, the first on-campus Aggie Bonfire was not held until 1909.
Reveille’s Breakfast Taco Bar
Term referring to A&M’s past, students or history.
Reveille, the first lady of Aggieland, is the official mascot of Texas
A&M University. She is the highest ranking member of the Corps of
Cadets, being the only bearer of five silver diamonds. Reveille I came
to Texas A&M in January 1931. A group of cadets hit a small black and
white dog on their way back from Navasota. They picked up the dog
and brought her back to the school so they could care for her. The
next morning, when “Reveille” was blown by a bugler, she started
barking. She was named after this morning wake up call. The
following football season she was named the official mascot when
she led the band onto the field during their half-time performance.
When Reveille I died on January 18, 1944, she was given a formal
military funeral on the gridiron of Kyle Field. She was then buried
at the north entrance to the field, as all Reveilles are, facing the
scoreboard so they can always watch the Aggies win.
(Whoop)in’ Wake Up
Howdy Hot Dog Bar
How we Aggies show our approval and excitement.
The official greeting of Texas A&M and Aggies everywhere!
Boot Line Burger Bar
As the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Band leaves the field after each home
game half-time performance, Seniors (giving evidence by the their
Senior Boots), line up at the North End of Kyle Field to welcome
the team back onto the field for the second half.
